The Power of Discipline
This is an excerpt with some additions from a post here on HKP, “The Power of One — The Power of Choice“.
Beloved, we are living in an hour when we must set priorities to put God first and set a time to pray and fellowship with Him daily.
Learning to set priorities even requires discipline in a world of so many distractions.
I am in a time when there is so much going on in my life, trying to get settled in a new place and so many problems with computers etc., that I stopped one morning and just found myself in tears crying out to The LORD to forgive me for not spending as much time as usual in intercession.
I then stopped and gave thanks for the power of choice, and how it works so well when we are disciplined.
The only real discipline I had growing up was when my mother put me in dancing school.
I look back on my life as a professional dancer and teacher and thank God that this spoiled brat only child was put in dancing school at the age of four years old!
I know that was the beginning of understanding the power of discipline, as I learned to practice to perfect and develop my skills and teach others.
The LORD spoke clearly to me this morning, “Beware of double-mindedness in this time of chaos and unbelief that is vying for your constant attention to keep you from your appointed assignment to carry out what has been entrusted to you for these end-times.
You are a light in the darkness.
I have brought you to a time to choose to be willing to live with the temporary pain that reality often brings.
The inflation that is at work in the finances of the world, is releasing a ‘poverty mindset’ that is depressing and oppressing the world and The Church,” says The LORD.
Today The LORD continued to speak to me that The Power of ONE is also the power of two in agreement when I am speaking His Words.
- I thank you LORD for the freedom to Choose and activate The Power of One.
- Angels are not allowed to think and choose for themselves; they do and say as they are told.
- I choose to accept the responsibility that comes with the freedom to make choices in my life.
- I thank God that Satan has no right to move on my choice unless I allow him.
- I choose to live the abundant life because I chose God. I live in abundance and not lack.
- I activate The Power of One to declare a thing and it shall be established.
- I choose to receive with gladness the divine privilege and responsibility to make a choice.
- I thank You for The Power of One to choose to live by Faith.
- I thank you LORD for the opportunity to decide to place the Word of God as the final authority in my life and the influence and power of that Word when I CHOOSE to Act on it.
- I thank You for the right to choose my thoughts as well as my words.
- I choose to act on Truth and be Your Disciple.
- I choose to make the choice to receive healing. I must decide to be healed in order to receive it.
- I thank You for forgiving me for the times I chose the truth that I was healed but I let the enemy come with his lies.
- I thank You for teaching me how to hold fast to your truth, seek Your Face and stand firmly on Your Word as I fought the good fight of Faith for myself and others.
- I choose to make a quality decision to face every choice I must make with an attitude of determination and discipline to follow hard after truth for when we know The Truth — The Truth will set us free!
- I accept The Truth of the word ‘Disciple’ that says I will be disciplined unto You. For the moment, all discipline is painful, rather than pleasant but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who are trained by it. (Hebrews 12:10)
I love the way The Passion Translation says in Hebrews 12,
“So be made strong even in your weakness by lifting up your tired hands in prayer and worship. And strengthen your weak knees, for as you keep walking forward on God’s path all your stumbling ways will be divinely healed!” Hebrews 12:12-13.
“For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.” Hebrews 12:11 ESV.
“No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening — it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.” Hebrews 12:11 NLT.
“For if you embrace The Truth, it will release true freedom into your lives.” John 8:32 TPT.
My we all continue in His Word and renew our minds that our actions will be transformed.
”So the wicked hate the Light and try to hide from it, for the Light fully exposes their lives. But those who love the truth will come into the Light, for the Light will reveal that it was God who produced their fruitful works.” John 3:20-21.
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21.

I am in total agreement with you in your declarations. I have to pray every morning because if I don’t the day is not good at all. I have been doing this now for a couple of years and can really see the difference in my relationship with the One who holds my heart. Hugs Pamie
Amen and Amen to that difference! Declarations and Discipline go hand in hand. If we declare with our mouth today and undo with our mouth tomorrow, what good is the declaration, dear Pamie? That is the test of discipline. We must discipline our feelings to open our spirit. In His Love, Sandi
I totally agree we have to have discipline and I meant to put in my comment but was in hurry when I wrote it. Hugs Pamie
Amen dear Pamie, Discipline is the key that keeps us stable and we must allow the Lord to train us as we desire to press on with power. In His Love, Sandi
Many thanks, dear Sis. In His Love, Sandi
There is Power in Discipline. Yes, we are in such times that if we are not careful, time slipped away and we did get to do what is the ‘better part’. I had to make a conscious effort to remove myself from distractions every day, or else I’ll feel so empty and weary.
Blessings to you dear Sandi.
Absolutely true we do let time slip away o easily at times and look back with regret. I receive your blessings, dear Jennifer. BTW, I could not find your email address to notify you that I was locked out of my AOL account with the wrong password they said and they were going to charge me money to get back into it. Obviously I did not do that. FYI My email is earthangel14@proton.me. In His Love, Sandi
Got it Sandi, thank you.
GREAT dear Jennifer. I have missed hearing from you. In His Love, Sandi
Yes and Amen, Sister. Powerful words. We must deliberately make choices to desire and develop the discipline necessary to know and hear the Lord’s heart for us. It begins with “taking every thought captive” as Paul instructed. The evil one wants to keep us distracted, regretful, and selfish rendering us ineffective as messengers of the Gospel. Our everyday choices have only two outcomes: bringing us closer to the cross and abiding in His will or pushing us further away. There is no compromise. That’s why He provides us with His Holy Spirit and the full armor of God. God grant me the courage and to discernment to choose wisely. Blessings.
Dear brother Cliff, we are for sure on the same page. It truly must be a deliberate choose to discipline ourselves. Just as the scripture says, FOR THE MOMENT, it is a deliberate choice of the will that produces the desirable outcome. I agree He is filling you with courage and discernment to choose wisely. Blessings and grace. In His Love, Sandi
Lovely.
