Forgiveness Is A Powerful Weapon in Our Warfare
The LORD has been speaking to me about the importance of Forgiveness every day for more than a month.
I know you all know what Jesus said, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do!” (Luke 23:34)
But I would like to say the underlying meaning of what Jesus said, has many applications.
First of all, as I have said many times, FORGIVENESS has nothing to do with your feelings.
When you need to forgive — trust me — the first thing you ‘feel’ when you are wronged or hurt is anger and hurt.
So forgiveness is an Act of Obedience. You walk forgiveness out!
I always begin with:
“LORD, as an act of my will and desire to obey you, I choose to forgive (blank) and I ask You to change my heart as I bear my cross (just like Jesus set the example) and I ask You to forgive my anger (or whatever) as I repent and repeat Your Word: “for they know not what they do!””
Forgiveness is our weapon against INJUSTICE.
First, Forgiveness on our part is an act of our will to obey the word of God.
Then, as we walk it out we will receive a softened heart whose healing only comes from allowing the love of God to heal our anger and wounds.
We embrace His Love as we leave the judgment to the Father.
We must guard our heart well, and never allow a mindset of darkness.
The LORD said, “Tell My People that offenses will come, but you must prepare your heart to be ready and prepared with the girdle of truth.
They are dressed for Victory, as they respond and move forward in Calvary Love.”
Confidence toward God is ultimately and truly what total forgiveness is all about.
At the end of each day, He is the one I want to please.
He is the one who forgave my sins and gave me a new heart and I too, will choose to forgive those who ‘trespass’ against me.
Declarations
- I Decree that I will be slow to anger and quick to forgive.
- I Decree that the weapons of my warfare are not carnal, but they are mighty.
- I Decree that God is giving me discernment to recognize the oppression all around me and I will not give into the enemy’s plan.
- I Decree that I will not hold a grudge or point a finger of judgment but I will forgive those who wrong me.
- I Decree that I will let the past be past — at last!
- I Decree that I will not harbor regret over my past and I will not give place to any guilt.
- I Decree that I will bless my enemies and pray for them as an act of total forgiveness.
- I Decree that Unforgiveness has no place in me for it is a product of self that will not crucify self because self is always on self’s side.
- I Decree that my heart will not condemn me for my confidence is toward God.
- I Decree that bitterness will not enter my heart for The Holy Spirit has filled me with peace that passes understanding.
- I Decree that I forgive myself for any self-hatred or blame that I have carried and not let go of.
Beloved, I believe Unforgiveness and Forgiveness is such an issue in our world today.
I believe that is the reason The LORD brings it up almost every time I enter into Prayer or Intercession.
I leave you with this quote today that I have written in one of my notes and I do not know the author but I believe it was R.T. Kendall in his book on Total Forgiveness.
“It is almost impossible to say which comes first-forgiving others so you will be able to forgive yourself, or forgiving yourself so you will be able to forgive others.
But it is not total forgiveness until both are equally true.”

Such a great reminder – I need to make this a daily thing at the end of the day – ask myself is there anyone I need to forgive
today so it doesn’t build up.
And thank you for the decrees because as we speak them out loud we can hear ourselves say it and they become
imbedded in us and becomes warfare against the war of thoughts in our minds that wants to hold on to the offensive thoughts. Thank you very much Sandi!
Amen! HE is the one we must please, my friend, Pamie. We stand in agreement for the power of two. In His Love, Sandi
So true…beautiful.
Sis, I so appreciate your comments and so blessed for your agreement. In His Love, Sandi
I need this teaching about once a week because offenses do come. Thank you for the reminder and for the decrees.
You are so welcome, Kay. I think we all have to keep reminding ourselves in this day and time more than ever that Forgiveness is the answer no matter what. In His Love, Sandi
“At the end of each day, He is the one I want to please.” So good so true and decreed and established. Hugs Pamie
