Until Juneteenth: For Lack of Knowledge Many Believers Are Still Enslaved; Don’t Remain One
June 19th is a federal public holiday in America, colloquially called Juneteenth (a portmanteau coinage of “June” and “nineteenth”).
And it has a very instructive historical background for our spiritual learning and life in Christ Jesus.
“Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all” Galatians 4:1 NKJV.
“Stand fast therefore in The Liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” Galatians 5:1 NKJV.
On January 1, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, declaring all enslaved people in Confederate territory free.
But down south in Texas, they were still in the bondage of slavery because they were unaware of their emancipation. Word of their new freedom hadn’t gotten to them.
This continued for more than two and half years until Major General Gordon Granger (of the Union Army) arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced to more 250,000 enslaved African-Americans on June 19, 1865 their long-declared liberty.
Like those 250,000 African-Americans in Texas, most believers are still held in bondage although having been set free by our Deliverer, The LORD Jesus Christ.
For decades, I was one; I was such a believer — because of ignorance.
Ignorance of The Truth/ lack of Knowledge is a major, major reason believers suffer, are oppressed by the enemy, and indeed, some even perish.
Hence, repeatedly, Paul said “I do not want you to be ignorant…”
Why?
“My people are destroyed for lack of Knowledge…” Hosea 4:6.
Man was already made like God; but Eve, being ignorant of this amazingly GREAT Truth, was deceived into death by the serpent (and all mankind with her) to disobey God in her deceived quest to be what she already was: like God.
The Last Adam, our Lord Jesus Christ, said in Matthew 6,
“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” Matthew 6:22-23 NKJV.
In other words, The LORD is saying, “If you have good knowledge and understanding of The Truth, you will be full of Light.
However, if the understanding in you is false, how great is that darkness!”
We must know The Truth, and The Truth shall set us free (John 8:32).
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get Wisdom. And in all your getting, get Understanding.” Proverbs 4:7.
Romans 16:20 says The God of Peace will crush Satan under our feet quickly, yet many believers fear Satan!
In fact, some years ago, a dear brother said to me most preposterously that Satan ranks above us!
WHAT!? The convicted and condemned felon and fallen angel we have The Authority of Jesus to trample on?
The trembling coward crushed under our feet by The God of Peace? (Romans 16:20).
If you knew how Satan exceedingly fears you as a believer in JESUS, you will WHACK him everyday as led by The Holy Spirit.
God has given us The Divine Mandate and Power to do so (Ephesians 3:10; Luke 9:2; 10:19).
In Christ, His Truth is our Shield and Buckler (Psalm 91:4). As such, how much of His Truth you have and walk in (obey) will determine the level of your authority, victory and dominion (reigning and ruling) in Him.
In all things at all times, we must ask God to show us the way to go, the steps to take.
We must always only think by The Spirit, speak by The Spirit and act by The Spirit in all things at all times.
No matter how fierce and raging the battle may be, there is a “But“!
“But thanks be to God, Who gives us The Victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57.
To every battle, there is a “But” by God for you.
No matter what is happening, we must always anchor our Faith to the “But”, and declare and enforce it.
What is the “But”?
I have this and that battle raging, BUT thanks be to God Who gives me the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
If you don’t quit, but rather stand and FIGHT, the “But” will be activated by God for you and give you victory.
We FIGHT for victory from Victory.
Every victory we need today has already been accomplished for us by The Victory of The Cross. (See Colossians 2:13-15, Hebrews 2:14-15.)
WE are the victors, NOT the vanquished. Live and fight like the victor you are, and not whimper like a victim.
We must know and appropriate The Victory and Liberty we have in The Cross.
As aforesaid, the slaves in Texas were free but didn’t know it for years.
Likewise, although made free by Jesus, most believers live and walk as though still slaves.
Wake up, Church!
Wake up, armour up and FIGHT!
Put on and take up The Whole Armour of God and FIGHT the enemy! Never whimper before him.
Submit to God and FIGHT him, and he will flee from you in terror. (James 4:7, 1 Peter 5:6).
When you snarl and roar at the enemy, he has to flee with his tail between his legs. He is a trembling, cowering coward who puts on a façade of fierceness.
A sister said in a comment recently here on HKP that she heard “Roariors”.
That’s right; we are ROARiors (a portmanteau of “roar” and “warriors”).
We are roaring warriors. We must roar against the enemy with The Roar of The Lion of Judah like The Lion of Judah.
Having The GREAT God in us and with us therefore, what is there to fear?
The tail should not wag the dog.
Roar against the enemy with The Terror of The Lion of Judah.
FIGHT in The Army of The LORD without fear or doubt. Fight for Victory from Victory
Happy Juneteenth!
“Now I saw Heaven opened, and behold, a White Horse. And He Who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in Righteousness He judges and makes war. His Eyes were like a Flame of Fire, and on His Head were many Crowns. He had a Name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a Robe dipped in Blood, and His Name is called The Word of God. And the armies in Heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.” Revelation 19:11-14.
Let’s sing together the powerful words of this Hymn:
Onward, Christian Soldiers
Onward, Christian soldiers,
marching as to war,
With The Cross of Jesus
going on before!
Christ, The Royal Master,
leads against the foe;
Forward into battle,
see His Banner go!
Refrain:
Onward, Christian soldiers,
marching as to war,
With The Cross of Jesus
going on before!
At the sign of triumph
Satan’s host doth flee;
On, then, Christian soldiers,
on to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver
at the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices,
loud your anthems raise! [Refrain]
Like a mighty army
moves The Church of God;
Brothers, we are treading
where the saints have trod;
We are not divided;
all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine,
one in charity. [Refrain]
Onward, then, ye people,
join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices
in The Triumph song;
Glory, laud, and honor,
unto Christ The King;
This thro’ countless ages
men and angels sing. [Refrain]
“The LORD Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.” 2 Timothy 4:22.
“Farewell” Acts 15:29.
~ Jacob Addison Awagah
Jacob, an apostle of JESUS CHRIST by The Will of GOD, according to The Promise of Life Which is in CHRIST JESUS, (2 Timothy 1:1).
Like John, I like to put my head to The Heart of JESUS so as to know and do His Will always. What’s in His Heart is what matters now and FOREVER. His Heart’s Desire is my only desire. My will is to do His Will.
As John was, I am the disciple whom JESUS loves. And like Paul, I am “the prisoner of CHRIST JESUS” (Ephesians 3:1) for His Purpose forever: to obey Him always.
NB. Surely, the disciple whom JESUS loves and “the prisoner of CHRIST JESUS”, like ALL The Promises of GOD, are available to every believer to obtain, just as John and Paul did.
“And having been perfected, He [JESUS] became The Author of Eternal Salvation to all who obey Him,” Hebrews 5:9.

Absolutely. So encouraging.
