Identity, Sonship, Timing and Rest
Vision: Lamb Upon a Ridge
I was in a time of worship intercession with The LORD, my thoughts a bit troubled as I was presenting Him with a situation…
As I lifted my heart to Him, He set a beautiful vision before me and spoke tenderly to my heart.
It was a scene set high upon a rocky mountainside with night beginning to fall… the last bits of sunlight casting a rich bronze hue as it washed over the imposing dark boulders.
There, on the edge of a precipice was a tiny white lamb caught in the brambles just outside of a large, rocky cave.
High upon the stony ridge, separated out from the rest of the flock, it was trembling in the cold, completely exhausted, frighted and alone.
The coming night was now casting imposing shadows along the ridge, when Jesus appeared, with gentle, strong steps, making His way up the mountain through a small winding path…
Draped in rich colored, shepherd garments, burnished with the warm light of His Presence, He carefully approached the startled little lamb.
As He reached the trembling little form, Jesus knelt down and spoke in quiet, reassuring tones, “I AM here…. Come close… Let me quiet your fears.”
I just wanted to stay in the Vision Encounter and let it soak into every fiber of my being, our precious, gentle, strong and loving Shepherd…
He is there dear Child of God present to us … always…
Sometimes we feel so abandoned and alone, entrapped in circumstances that seem too much to bear … but we never walk alone.
Our loving Shepherd is always there to feed, guide and shield us.
As we allow Him to speak to the deepest places of our heart, He calms every fear, and quiets every troubling, self-defeating thought.
False Identity Syndrome
Beloved Child of God, do you ever struggle with vague undercurrents of unworthiness, feeling even at times like you’re a “pretender” in your own life?
Do you often feel an underlying sense of being stalled in the greater purposes of God for your life?
Or, do you find yourself swallowed up by anxious thoughts, and worry even when there’s not really anything that seems to be presenting itself as a threat?
If so, you are not alone dear one.
Many of us suffer with soul wounds that have caused a deeply rooted “false identity syndrome”, allowing the enemy to define us as weak, and ineffectual, constantly afflicting us with inner pangs of anxiety, shrouding us with an aura of unworthiness.
If we listen to the lies that the enemy seeks to implant into our thoughts it will lead us to doubt our identity and belonging, undermining who we are in Christ.
We must reconcile these feelings of inadequacy, fear and lack at The Cross, where Christ, Love itself, stepped into humanity, and laid Himself down to reconcile us back to God, giving us entrance into life with Him forever.
Here, in our Beloved Shepherd, we can embrace the absolute assurance of the deep love of Father God for us, and the truths of belonging, and sonship that Jesus has set before us in His Word.
As we yield to His great Love, and personally receive the truth of who we are in Christ and what He’s done for us, we can experience the true Peace that comes as we step into our New identity in Christ.
Wholeness, Freedom and Rest can become a tangible, lived experience!
“Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 AMPC.
“You have not given me a spirit of fear,(lack, unworthiness, intimidation, impoverishment…) but (The Holy Spirit) who brings to me a spirit of power (empowerment), love (Divine love in all of its facets and strengths), and a sound mind.” (which is built up and reinforced by a constant renewal to the Truth of the Word.) 2 Timothy 1:7 AMPC personalized.
Declare; speak aloud!
“I am who Christ says that I am — a New Creation in Him!”
“Your Word is Truth!”
“You are Faithful, redeeming God!”
“You are my Father God”…
The Word is our Source of Strength and Soul Nourishment;
Develop Daily Habits in the Word
Ask The Holy Spirit to open the eyes of your heart, so that you might see the life- giving truth in the Word.
“Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Your law.” Psalm 119:18.
*Psalms 119 is a wonderful Psalm, directing us to the power and importance of the Word of God for our lives.
- Be diligent to seek the Truth of the Word for your specific needs, searching out The LORD’s Promises to you … and look to them daily.
- Meditate on the truth that The LORD illuminates to you.
Write out the Word that “speaks to your heart”.
Take intentional portions of time throughout your day to think deeply and ruminate upon the truths that Holy Spirit leads you to from the Scriptures.
- Let the Word change you! Make a determined stand to accept these truths and take them as your own. The Word of God taken to heart is alive, active and transformative!
“For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12.
Break the Enemy Cycle of Negativity
Ask The Holy Spirit to reveal and then break the enemy cycles of negative thoughts that have invaded your own thoughts, forming a false persona of you. (see 1 Peter 5:8-9)
Then ask The Holy Spirit to lead you into the truth of what God speaks to you about “who you are in Christ”.
Once you “hear” from the scripture, highlighted by the witness of The Holy Spirit within — come into absolute agreement with Christ and His Word for you, asking The LORD to take away all doubt, unbelief and fear.
An invitation to Overcoming, and Entrance into His Rest
I invite you to deeply engage with the truths found in passage below from (Romans 5: 1-5).
Ask The Holy Spirit to reveal your truest identity in Christ as a “much loved child of the most High God”.
This deep revelation of “sonship” becomes “your resting place” within Father’s heart.
This is the place where you cease from striving, and live from the place of love, belonging and acceptance.
My Prayer for you
• That you would grasp the Truth of who you are in God.
From Romans 5:1 — “that you might grasp the fact/truth that you have the peace of reconciliation to hold and to enjoy … actual peace with God….”
• That you would have a revelation of “sonship”.
Ask The Holy Spirit to give you a deep revelation of sonship — that you might know with absolute assurance that your identity, calling, purpose and destiny has been intended by Father God Himself for you from before the foundation of the earth …. (see Ephesians 2:10)
• That you would know deeply that you were planned and purposed of God…(see Jeremiah 29:11-14)
In Father’s great nurturing love, He has planned ahead for you, and purposed intentionally for every season of your life …. so that even if you feel that you have “missed it” …. you won’t “miss it ”… because as you look to your Father God, He will lovingly provide a way for you to grasp and take a hold of what He has purposed for you.
Healing in Your Generations
Coming Back into the Timing of The LORD
Be BOLD to take a hold of what Christ has taken hold of for you!
EVEN NOW He’s rewiring your brain, as you renew your thoughts to the Truth of the Word.
COME BACK INTO THE TIMING of The LORD!
Most of us have had difficult circumstances in our lives and in the lives of our generations that seem to have blocked the blessings of God and His original intention for our lives….
ASK that “your timing” would come back into realignment with God’s timing for your life, and that He would break the enemy cycles of loss, brokenness, grief, inadequacy, hopelessness and failure to thrive.
“He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding! He reveals the deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him!” Daniel 2:21-22 AMPC.
ASK that The LORD Jesus Christ would halt the work of the enemy in your life, and the lives of your generations.
The one who has come to steal, kill and destroy is “ found out” and must now pay back “seven times” what has been stolen in your generations.
RECLAIM the peace over your birth: who you are, your timing in the earth, and your purposes from within His heart.
See also this HKP Word, “They Will Shine Forth in Your Kingdom”, (June 25) where I have included the important passage from Acts 17 regarding this as well.
ASK The LORD to take down ALL generational holds of anxiety, lack, impoverishment, and unworthiness, replacing it with the strength of His Truth.
ASK The Holy Spirit to bring your psyche (your soul) into alignment with your spirit and into the internal REST that comes from knowing that you are accepted in the Beloved and that you BELONG.
ASK The Holy Spirit that you could RECEIVE these TRUTHS deep inside your heart and consciousness:
“I am loved, cherished and valued.”
“I belong.“
“I am planned for, purposed and intentioned from within Father God’s heart.”
“I am enough.”
Now it’s your turn
Ask The Holy Spirit to lead you into precious and important personal truths from this passage in Romans 5.
Write them down with thanksgiving and personalize them.
Each day speak one or two of them aloud throughout the day.
Then share the Truths with someone who is close to you.
This Declaration and Confession out loud is a powerful part of the process of “mind renewal”.
These actions of “agreeing, recording, thanksgiving, speaking aloud, and sharing with others is actually a vital process of “cognitive renewal” that actually rebuilds your brain!
Truth verified from both a spiritual and neurological perspective.
This is the pattern set down for us in Romans 12:1-2
“THEREFORE, SINCE we are justified (acquitted, declared righteous, and given a right standing with God) through faith, let us [grasp the fact that we] have [the peace of reconciliation to hold and to enjoy] peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).
Through Him also we have [our] access (entrance, introduction) by faith into this grace (state of God’s favor) in which we [firmly and safely] stand. And let us rejoice and exult in our hope of experiencing and enjoying the glory of God.
Moreover [let us also be full of joy now!] let us exult and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance.
And endurance (fortitude) develops maturity of character (approved faith and tried integrity). And character [of this sort] produces [the habit of]joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation.
Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through The Holy Spirit Who has been given to us.” Romans 5:1-5.
Our Good Shepherd Leads Us
Psalm23 — Jeremiah 29:11-14 Medley
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says The LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says The LORD, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says The LORD, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.” Jeremiah 29:11-14.
Our Gentle Shepherd
Psalms 23 — Jeremiah 29:11-14 — Psalm 139
Make it deeply Personal….
- Invite The Holy Spirit to personally minister deeply to your heart today in the embrace of Psalm 23 and Psalms 139…
- Choose a couple of favorite translations and let The LORD weave them together for you.
- I have selected and personalized portions from the NLT, and the AMPC.
- Open with Jeremiah 29:11-14.
- Draw close and let Father God speak His words over you.
- Receive this blessing and word from His heart.
The LORD speaks “the end from the beginning”; speaking out His eternal purposes in love and light to us even while in the natural realm, we are still experiencing blockages and entrapments in the soul.
THIS is the identity of “sonship and belonging” that He wants deeply established in each of His children as we are rooted and grounded in His love by The Spirit and through His precious Only Begotten Son, Jesus.
As you take a hold of these Truths and Instructions, I am contending for your breakthrough and freedom!
