✝️ What Makes Biblical Counseling Truly Biblical?
Here are a few ( not all conclusive ) answers.
✝️ Biblical counseling occurs whenever God’s People engage in conversations that are anchored in Scripture, centered on Christ and the gospel, grounded in sound theology, dependent upon The Holy Spirit and prayer, directed toward sanctification, founded in love, attentive to heart issues, comprehensive in understanding, thorough in care, does understand and includes highly skilled trauma informed counseling work, is practical and relevant.
✝️ Biblical counseling promotes personal change, centered on the person of Christ through the
personal ministry of the Word.
✝️ Biblical counseling does not set aside real-life issues, but works to understand their origin, impact and involvement in the counselee’s life from a Biblical perspective. It acknowledges that the counselee possesses both physical and spiritual components that interact and affect one another because the counselee is a whole spiritual person (2 Corinthians 4:16-18).
It seeks to hear and understand the counselee and apply the truth of Scripture (gospel truths, who God is, and all the Biblical elements of change) to the counselee’s life, so that Jesus Christ and his model of redemption and discernment are the central element, ➡️ implementing godly trauma informed counseling/ therapy when needed, ⬅️ and that there can be restoration where there is brokenness (Revelation 21:5).
✝️ ✅ The Biblical counselor will also often refer the counselee to get a medical check-up to see if there are physical complications involved in the issue at hand.

Love this teaching. It reminds me of many years ago one weekend morning when I heard the Lord spoke “Rejection;” an answer to my question, which wouldn’t be addressed if I wasn’t reading the Word. The Holy Spirit brought the heart issue upfront and revealed it’s origin. Being affected for so many years and did not know why things were the way they were until God showed up. He said “Forgive”, even though the person was deceased – yes, for my healing I had do that. After I had done that, it’s like Love was written all over my face and manifested in church that Sunday, hugging everyone. Thank you for this Mary, blessings to you dear sister.
