A thief is among us trying to take what he did not make.  A thief is going to steal.

“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.”   Matthew 11:12.

Often we look at thieves stealing tangible things.  Don’t forget about joy, peace, hope, and love – these are things that govern human life.

The LORD is guarding our inheritance.

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:  but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:”   Matthew 6:19-20.

There is a High Court in the land that dispenses Judgment no one can stand against.

“Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.  Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.  Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:  that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is LORD, to the glory of God the Father.”   Philippians 2:3-11.

I am reading news reports about people’s property taken over by greed.  Where is the respect to ownership?

Some battles seem unfair especially to the loser.  Who gets blamed when storms, strong wings, floods, and fires completely destroy property?

Is it difficult to console a person in great loss — when you have never experienced such a loss?

Personal healing comes through serving.  Helping another person to victory — builds strength and character within oneself.

Losing a court case or a love one in death — both are draining experiences.

These are times we draw on God’s ownership.  He owns the earth.  This means we are never permanently displaced.

“A Psalm of David. The earth is The LORD’s, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.  For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.”   Psalm 24:1-2.

Heartache comes with loss.  There comes a time when grief subsides, fear is subdued, and the thief is apprehended.

In the meantime, as we wait for healing – be comforted with the words God spoke to Joshua.

“Now after the death of Moses the servant of The LORD it came to pass, that The LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying, Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.  Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.  From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.  There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.  Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.  Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.  This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.  Have not I commanded thee?  Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for The LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”   Joshua 1:1-9.
