Don’t Lose Hope in the Midst of the Battle

June 14t, 1934 —- Today you would have been 92 yrs old.
However, God and you had other plans. On your 91st birthday, I remember one of your kind CNA‘s telling me that they were asking you how your birthday was, and if you were having a good day.
She wished you happy birthday… and you proceeded to tell her thank you for the birthday wishes, but you will not be here next year.
I truly believe that some people know or can feel when The LORD is getting close to bringing them to their true home, Heaven.
On June 30th, you will be with Jesus, for 6 months already. Happy Birthday, Dad! 💜🕊️💜
While I MISS you every day, I am so thankful, that you are free from Parkinson’s and at peace!
We walked through many a trial together. For seven years we stood together caring for mom after her stroke.
It was definitely a battle of love and perseverance, but God carried us through. After mom’s passing I believe The LORD blessed you with some well deserved years of fun and relaxation.
It was wonderful to watch you bowl, play bingo with your friends, and make many crafts. You were always artistic drawing me pictures of animals or making me pancakes shaped as animals too when I was little.
You never knew a stranger and I have to say that I definitely got that trait from you. Your granddaughter says, I can walk into a bathroom and come out with a new friend.
You walked fully in the definition of your name “JOY” and spread it wherever you went!
I can honestly and amazingly say, that not one single time did I ever see you lose your joy during your health issues, and Parkinson’s is a terrible beast!
We never know what this life will entail or what journey we will be called to.
There were many times that I crawled up mountains, and made boats for the valleys, during my care journey for you.
However, I truly know in my heart of hearts that you carried the Joy of The LORD as your strength in a tangible way!
You embodied the Scripture:
“Do not sorrow, for the JOY of The LORD is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10 NKJV.
Every journey we are called to has a beginning and an end, but in the middle is where God works in you and through you.
There were many days that I thought I’d never make it through!
But looking back now, I see how God used my caregiver journey with you, to strengthen my Resolve and Faith for the future!
Even in the midst of the battle, we must not lose Hope or Faith in the ONE, who will always carry us through … God!
I definitely have many battle scars, but if I look with the eyes of The LORD I see the beauty in the story of caring for a man named Joy, my father and my friend! I’d always say to my dad “make sure you do your exercises” or something of that sort and then just to make him laugh I’d say “let’s pinky swear” which is what you see in this picture above. 💜 I love you, dad❣️
If you’re in the thick of a battle right now, whatever it may be, you may be questioning, “Why me LORD?” or “Why now LORD?” just know that God brings beauty from ashes, and nothing we walk through is ever wasted!
He will use the the Knowledge, the Faith, and the Perseverance in you to help lift someone up in their time of need.
Keep your chin up my friend!
“To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of The LORD, that He may be glorified.” Isaiah 61:3 NKJV.
Blessings and HIS abundant grace to you!
