He Will Not Back Down
Imagine for a moment that He who began a good work in us said that He “may” carry it through unto completion.
Imagine that His promises were inundated with caveats and contingencies.
Imagine that His work depended on us.
If this were the case, there would be cause for fear in failure.
There would be good reason for constant introspective examination.
It would even be reasonable to resort to a self made list of “do’s and don’ts.”
Yet there are no contingencies. For those in Christ Jesus, He is doing a good work.
He will not back down.
He will not stop.
He will not walk away.
He will persist in this maturing process in and through us until its completion. There is no cause to live in fear but there are an unending number of reasons to live with gratitude and joy in our hearts.
Rely on His promise.
Stop pursuing your own religious regimen.
Stop striving towards your own continuous improvement.
Our self made systems will fail.
Our striving will fail.
God alone will not fail.
In Him alone do we trust.
The Pen is the Word of God
The pen is the word of God. Once it has been written it can never be erased.
It is indelible mark of love, mercy and grace. It is guidance and correction. Like a shepherd’s staff it draws in the wayward who have departed from the narrow path. It nourishes those who dwell in the green pastures of His promise.
The paper is our hearts. Without His word we are empty much like a blank page is devoid of meaningful content. As He pours out His word we are filled, not with junk and filler, but with the words of life and of love.
The two belong together – Our paper and His pen. Our hearts and His word.
Not every spark becomes a roaring fire. In fact, most grow cold only seconds after they are born.
God Himself provides the spark. It is our responsibility to place it carefully into the tinder of our hearts.
Has God’s spark within you matured into a roaring fire or has it grown cold and died?
If you find that you are cold and without life, first prepare your heart for Him then ask for His spark to set you on fire.
