Micawberism
A whimsical yet faith filled look at our prayer life!
Anyone remember Wilkins Micawber?
Micawber was a character from Charles Dickens’ book David Copperfield. He was eternally optimistic, especially with regard to finances.
He was always expectant of a minor or major miracle to help him, and those around him, through life.
“Something will turn up!” appeared to be the permanent source of his never ending optimism.
It strikes me that we could do well to apply this principle to our Faith!
Micawber was ever-expectant that ‘providence’, an unknown source to him, would send the answer to his Daily Prayers.
The difference between Micawber and us is that we know who this ‘providence’ person is.
So it’s time for us to believe that our prayers will, in fact, be answered instead of, like Micawber, just being hopeful that this unknown ‘providence’ fellow will turn up sometime soon.
God always responds to Prayer!
We know He is never late — His timing is always perfect.
So we must pray expectantly!
We need a dose of Holy Spirit inspired ‘Micawberism’, or expectant optimism.
Let’s all start praying expectantly rather than hopefully.
Give your faith a boost with an infusion of blatant ‘Micawberism’ — today!
