My Strength is Made Perfect in Weakness

“And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:7-10.
“Amazing Grace,” shall always be my song of praise.
When we think we have nothing. When it seems no one cares or understands our dilemma — God’s Amazing Grace is always present.
During hurt, pain, and even in sickness we are tempted to ask God — why and when.
LORD, what sin did I commit?
Why are you not answering my prayer for healing?
When will this stop and go completely away?
Our acquaintance with scripture gives us knowledge and wisdom to confess over our situations.
Therefore, a Christian waits patiently for the manifestation of God’s Holy promises.
Yes, our knowledge of God’s word gives us a springboard to exercise faith. However, the bounce back leaves us wondering did God really hear the prayer.
Pain and suffering is our least favorite thing to do — yet Christian believers have a responsibility to trust the Bible’s guidance.
Paul tells us he celebrates his sickness by permission of The LORD. Basically, Jesus told Paul it is okay to be sick!
The LORD’s words to Paul were the same as saying, “No evil shall befall thee”. (1 Corinthians 12:1-10)
“Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made The LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.” Psalm 91:8-10.
“Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellers of peace is joy. There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.” Proverbs 12:20-21.
Contrast and comparison of Paul words appear to say sickness or adverse situation brings us into the “Greater Glory of God”.
This has to be true or else how could a person going through cancer treatments (radiation and chemotherapy) adapt or withstand.
“Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: that no flesh should glory in his presence.” 1 Corinthians 1:25-29.
Sickness does not stop us from serving God, but anger prolongs healing.
Job preached his most powerful sermons while on a bed of affliction. Even though Job’s body was vanishing, his spirit grew stronger. People came to hear him preach from his bed! ( Job Chapters 1-3)
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13.
We live in hope of our physical bodies recovering from afflictions.
Often it appears doctors use sick people as pincushions and science experiments. I tell you God is working a “Greater glory in afflictions”!
“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:16-18.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, allow The LORD to be glorified in your sufferings.
Put every burden on Jesus He is able to bear our light afflictions that are momentary and fleeting. Hold to God’s unchanging hand — His blood will never lose its power.
Some are going through tremendous suffering at his time. Let these words serve as encouragement and shift your cares on The LORD.
The LORD Jesus can carry the weight of the world. God’s strength “is made perfect in weakness!” Glory LORD! (2 Corinthians 12:9)
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30.
“For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18.
“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” 1 Peter 5:6-7.
During the Covid-19 attack, the bed was my companion. My body was too weak to stand in the shower.
I bathed myself in bed. No one was around to help with anything. My family brought supplies and dropped them at the door.
God’s Grace was sufficient. Although I could barely speak, I continued getting on my family prayer call every week. God’s strength came perfectly in weakness.
The thief on the cross with Jesus confessed his sins in a dying hour; and surrendered his last ounce of dignity to the blood of Jesus.
He saw his weakness turn into Jesus strength. A criminal and lifetime sinner received salvation through God’s Love. (Luke 23:32-43)
“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:6.
Thank God for pain free moments.
Thank God, you can bathe yourself or with others help.
Thank God for soap and water.
Thank God for His healing power.
Thank God, that He hears your prayers.
Thank God for getting through another day.
Thank God for the ability to eat and drink even if it is through a straw or tube.
I thank God — I thank the Master for all He has done for me.
In your weakest moments, find strength to trust God.
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9.

And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God. 1 Samuel 30:6 (KJV)
Mary, I could do relate to your message. Have been studying Job, as I felt led there with all that I was going through including my brother‘s death suddenly! Have been battling pain, nights where I need to trust God to get me through. Doing anything has been a real challenge.. the scripture you used have become my favourite. His strength is made perfect in my weakness and casting all my cares on Him. I felt driven to study Job. I really understood every word of your message and felt encouraged to know you understood. God is faithful bless you, sister.
Patricia,
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18 (KJV)
