Of Secret Things….
I meditated on Deuteronomy 29:29, which states,
“The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.” NKJV
“The secret things belong unto the Lord our God, but the things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all of the words of this law.” AMPC
“Some secret things belong to the Lord our God. He does not let us understand everything. But he has shown us many things clearly. Those things belong to us and to our descendants for all time. They are the words of his Law that we need to obey.” EEB
” God, our God, will take care of the hidden things but the revealed things are our business. It’s up to us and our children to attend to all the terms in this Revelation.” MSG
Now, there are Secret Things which refer to the Mysteries of the heavenly and there are secrets (things that are unknown to us) which God in His benevolence reveals (discloses truths, give information) of.
What we need to understand is that there are things that are hidden from human understanding and these are what belong to God, (also that occultic practitioners seek the dark for), then there are things that are in a more general sense for example situations, occurrences etc are unveiled. (Amos 3:7)
Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
This speaks of Divine Communication!
God in His Sovereignty and Faithfulness, expressing His Mind, Will, Heart and Plans to humanity.
In essence, this is to bring us to The Truth, that there are dimensions in God that we ought to attain, to which comes via Intimacy — but are we trustworthy — to be good stewards of The Secret Things of God!
“Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.” Amos 3:7.
Shalom
