I never want to forget the lesson The LORD taught me from this.
Clearly we each one have a distinct purpose and call and each ONE person is important in The Kingdom of God and together we are a family.
Last year about this same time, someone I have known for a long time said to me that my posts were just ho-hum and not revelatory.
She went on to further say everyone already knows those ho-hum things.. hmmm. I reflected on that, is that true?
Please know I was startled by her evaluation, but truly not hurt. However, I took it to heart and I immediately began to guard my heart and sought The LORD.
He said this to me, ” ‘Ho-hum’ reflects ‘not important.’ When the simplicity of My Word becomes ho-hum to you, you have been deceived by the pride of your heart and it is time to STOP, LOOK, and LISTEN. “
The LORD speaks to us as individuals, because we are unique and fearfully and wonderfully made in His image and each one is a treasure. So how we reflect who HE is is very important to Him.
Good manners flow out of a grateful heart. Does your heart hurt when no one acknowledges a gift or a kindness?
I even trained my little dog to acknowledge “please” and “thank you”. It seems like the hurt is deeper if it is someone really close to your heart, as their actions or lack of response surprises or even shocks you.
I have been touched by this for quite some time and this morning I once again was so pricked in my heart when I made a casual comment of ‘Congrats’ to a young lady who is achieving great success in her business.
I only know her by name, but felt true excitement for her in my heart. She immediately engaged with me by responding with a Big thank you.
You might say this is a small thing, but The LORD immediately opened my ear and spoke. “Always take time to acknowledge what might seem a small thing. It may be the one thing that fuels the fire I have ignited in them.
Little things mean a lot and don’t ever forget to do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
He said, “Learn this today: When you turn a deaf ear to Me over and over, it works a hardened heart in you.
Just as I said, don’t despise small beginnings. Don’t overlook the small things or you will take the big things for granted.”
Hmmm. All because I responded to her hard work? God wants to talk… are we listening?
Entitlement flows out of a prideful, self-centered expectancy that thinks only of themselves.
Recently I have been deeply touched by the lack of honor and respect I have experienced and watched even from a distance. And I also am amazed at the acceptance of parents and older adults who just show their acceptance by just “letting it go”
Change will only come when someone steps up and makes a difference. Hearts can be changed to an attitude of gratitude by the greatest giver of all time.. Jesus Christ. HE is the HEART CHANGER.
When I look up and see the beauty of the world I am privileged to enjoy with majestic mountains and brilliant sunsets, I stop and thank God that HE has breathed His breath in me one more time that I may release that life to those HE sends my way or those HE sends me to.
More and more I realize “I will not pass this way again” is a deep truth that is lodged deeply inside of me and it drives me to be “that one” today. We must learn to SEIZE THE DAY. Carpe Diem!
I challenge everyone to stop and give a heart response to someone daily to bless their kind gesture or heartwarming actions. Your words make a difference. They will make their heart sing!
Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
“One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream.
One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring.
One smile begins a friendship,
One handclasp lifts a soul.
One star can guide a ship at sea,
One word can frame the goal.
One vote can change a nation,
One sunbeam lights a room.
One candle wipes out darkness,
One laugh will conquer gloom.
One step must start each journey,
One word must start each prayer.
One hope will raise our spirits,
One touch can show you care.
One voice can speak with wisdom,
One heart can know what’s true.
One life can make the difference,
Be that one.”
