Set Your Face Like Flint
“But The LORD God helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame.” Isaiah 50:7 (ESV)
Flint is a hard, dark rock. In Scripture, it is also a metaphor — one that captures the toughness required for impossible assignments (Deuteronomy 8:15) and the unwavering determination of those who walk with God (Ezekiel 3:8–9; Isaiah 50:7).
To “set your face like flint” is to embody spiritual resilience and focused devotion, especially in the face of resistance.
“Behold, I have made your face as hard as their faces, and your forehead as hard as their foreheads. Like emery harder than flint have I made your forehead. Fear them not, nor be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house.” Ezekiel 3:8–9 (ESV).
In this passage, God equips Ezekiel with supernatural resolve so he wouldn’t shrink back from a rebellious audience.
This illustrates how God doesn’t always remove opposition.
He fortifies us against it. Flint-faced prophets are not swayed by looks, emotions, or threats.
They speak because they are sent.
A Prophetic Word for the Pioneers
The LORD is speaking to His pioneers in this hour and reminding them, “Set your face like flint.”
Do not shrink back. Do not cower under pressure. Do not compromise in the face of conflict, discomfort, or false accusation.
The spirit of Leviathan is on assignment. It specializes in deception, twisting, and confusion.
This serpent slithers into conversations between friends and twists. It enters marriages and distorts love. It enters churches, ministry meetings, and business dealings and turns clarity into chaos.
This spirit manipulates “good people” until confusion surfaces. It fuels miscommunication. It stirs offense. It poisons perception, and in its wake, it leaves fractured relationships and aborted assignments.
But even though Leviathan’s grip is tight and the warfare is unjust, The LORD says,
“Be steadfast! Be unmovable! Set your face like flint!”
Warfare, Allegations, and the Pioneers’ Response
This spirit often brings false accusations, especially against leaders.
Under its influence, outrageous claims are made. Not because they’re true, but because they are strategic.
Leviathan’s goal is to sow seeds of discord, break covenant, and derail the mission.
But as Job declared:
“I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.” Job 42:2 ESV.
The Jezebel Spirit and the Season of Seclusion
Many pioneers have been pushed into seclusion emotionally, relationally, and spiritually because of the attacks from the spirit of Jezebel.
But seclusion is not abandonment. It is preparation. The LORD is not just preserving the pioneers in hiding, He is sending help, resources, and covenant partnerships to ensure that His will is fulfilled through you.
The time of shrinking back is over. It’s time to build.
Final Exhortation!
- You are not crazy.
- You are not behind.
- You are not alone.
- You are being sharpened like flint. Not to survive, but to pierce through resistance and fulfill the call.
Let every lie be exposed. Let every twist be untangled.
Let every slander fall to the ground.
Set your face like flint, and move forward.
