Thanksgiving From The Return Of Captivity
A psalm to praise and sing to God, out loud.
Thanksgiving From The Return Of Captivity
When The LORD brought back the captives of Zion,
We were like those who dream.
Then our mouth was filled with laughter
And our tongue with joyful shouting;
Then they said among the nations,
“The LORD has done great things for them.”
The LORD has done great things for us;
We are joyful.
Restore our fortunes, LORD,
As the streams in the South.
Those who sow in tears shall harvest with joyful shouting.
One who goes here and there weeping, carrying his bag of seed,
Shall indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing his sheaves
With him.
O God, we have heard with our ears,
Our fathers have told us,
What deeds You performed in their days,
In the days of old:
You with Your Own Hand drove out the nations,
But them You planted;
You afflicted the peoples,
But them You set free;
For not by their own sword did they win the land,
Nor did their own arm save them,
But Your Right Hand and Your Arm,
And the Light of Your Face,
For You delighted in them.
You are my King, O God;
Ordain salvation for Jacob!
Through You we push down our foes;
Through Your Name we tread down those who rise up against us.
For not in my bow do I trust,
Nor can my sword save me.
But You have saved us from our foes
And have put to shame those who hate us.
In God we have boasted continually,
And we will give thanks to Your Name forever. Selah
When The LORD brought back the captives of Zion,
We were like those whose eyes were opened.
Then our shouts gave You all the Glory
And our tongues sang in praise that lasted days and days;
Then they said among the nations,
“The LORD has done great things for them.”
The LORD has done great things for us;
We are joyful.
Restore our fortunes, LORD,
As the streams in the South.
Our enemy has become no more:
You have removed them; made them disappear forever
And have made the hearts of your people glad
With Your Justice.
Our eyes are open to the truth;
Our shackles have fallen off;
The prisons we once inhabited have emptied.
All throughout the land
You have shown Your Right Hand and Your Arm,
And the Light of Your Face.
We sing praises unto You
And to Your Mighty Name—
How You saved us from total destruction.
Day and night we sing
Thanksgiving from the Return of Captivity.
Day and night we give praise to You
Earnestly remembering what You have done for us.
It is all because of Your Great Mercy and Love
That we stand here once again, our land restored.
Day and night we sing
Thanksgiving from the Return of Captivity,
Let us never forget what You have done for us.
