The Captain of the Host is Riding Fast to Meet You
This isn’t the Word I expected to release to you next, but a couple of weekends ago, The LORD showed me a short scene, set in the past. It played out before me like a period film.
A young man arrives at a house on horseback, accompanied by his gentlemen companions, an entourage wearing livery and a small detachment of armed guardsmen.
He is expensively dressed in cloak, doublet and breeches, decorated with braid, but dusty and spattered from long days travelling by road.
He dismounts, goes bounding up the steps three at time and is shown into the house by a servant, who takes his cloak, hat and gloves.
A young woman, looking ‘fresh as a daisy’ in a buttermilk yellow gown with white lace and pink roses, walks into the hallway.
“Oh dear,” she says. “You’re very late.” She looks him up and down. “And you’re very grubby.”
Crestfallen and hurt, his body language stiffens and he responds icily in his disappointment, “I believe I asked you in my last letter to be kind and to let your first words to me be that you missed me while I was away?”
She smiles mischievously. “And I replied in my last letter that I rarely ever do as I’m expected to, but that if you arrived before twelve I would say ‘Yes, please!’ to any question you asked. You have wasted time but if you hurry, you still have eleven minutes left before noon.”
The young man’s face softens and brightens. He bows low and offers his hand to the lady and asks her, “Would you care to dance with me?”
Curtsying and smiling broadly, she places her hand in his and says cheerfully, “Yes, please!”
Dust and all, they start dancing together.
Both sides represent us and both sides represent The LORD.
He is both waiting patiently for us to come to him and He is also travelling fast to meet us where we are.
The LORD is saying we are coming into a kairos time of favour.
Be humble and obedient and say, “Yes, please!” to anything He asks of you or offers to you.
Don’t quibble, procrastinate or prevaricate. Just say yes.
The LORD also says that in this time of favour
He is not only willing but very pleased to grant your requests to Him.
Approach His throne of grace with boldness and confidence, knowing that in Jesus all your needs will be met.
Jesus is our eternal Yes and Amen.
Walk humbly and in union with Him, and He promises He will do anything you ask in His name, that He might be glorified.
His resources are at your disposal.
The Captain of the Host is riding fast to meet you, and His forces arrayed in heavenly livery are waiting on your trust-filled request.
Come as you are and do not worry about either the “grubbiness” or sinfulness of your present condition, nor be concerned that The LORD is asking you to get your hands dirty and that you might make a mess of yourself.
Times of refreshing and times of dancing and joy are close at hand.
Go on! Give Him the tithes of your heart!
Bound up those stairs and into His Throne Room with enthusiasm and delight and a heart of reverent love for The LORD.
Ask what He wants of you and see what He will do for you.
“And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” John 14:13-14.
“Let us therefore come boldly to the Throne of Grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16.
“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this Says The LORD of hosts, If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.” Malachi 3:10.
“For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” 2 Corinthians 1:20.
“Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.” Psalm 2:8.
“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” 1 John 5:14.
“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11.
