The Heart of Forgiveness
Preface
I am reposting this Word with a few things I call ‘food for thought’ as we consider the many things that are calling for changes.
Forgiveness is a decision to change the way I think, change the way I feel or change the way I behave or have behaved.
When I make these changes, it changes my future.
I have faced the Truth, that I cannot change the past, but I can allow God to change my heart to forgive first, as an act of my will… obeying the Words of Jesus.
Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do! (Luke 23:34)
Then I embrace His heart — and allow Him to change my future!
The Heart of Forgiveness
September 14, 2025.
I have been digging deep in my own lessons learned as I write my book and of course, FORGIVENESS.. true Calvary forgiveness is right at the top of the list.
When I find myself struggling with hurt, anger, or a perceived wrong. I must stop and remember to be careful not to disregard the cross and the one voice who said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do”.
The LORD once spoke to me, “Daughter, always remember, you have no insight or idea where they are coming, from so guard your heart with all diligence, or you will be guilty of unforgiveness and will not be able to move forward.
Forgiveness does not change what happened but it will change your heart when you respond in the opposite spirit,” said The LORD.
“LORD, you are so good to me, so kind in every way and ready to forgive, for your grace-fountain keeps overflowing, drenching all your devoted lovers who pray to you.” Psalm 86:5 TPT.
I love the expression ‘grace-fountain’. It so describes the steady flow of God’s Grace to us and for us. It is like getting ‘drenched’ in a downpour of rain from heaven.
After reading this translation, it left me with a picture of His forgiveness that will pop into my mind each time I am tempted to give in to my judgment, or fall into the enemy’s trap of unforgiveness, that never changes the one who hurt me and never changes the hurt or offense.
But as I respond in the opposite spirit, I release Calvary Love to the offender every time.
The LORD again spoke to me, “Remember, when someone allows the enemy a place, or something sets a trap for you to fall into unforgiveness, they have succeeded in stealing the purity of your heart and you must stop and recover the issues of your heart that were stolen.
Always ask Me to show you your heart.
Many times when you respond in unforgiveness, you have allowed pride to hit a home run and you have lost the freedom to walk in Love and fulfill your purpose.
Take care to dismiss any place you have given to what the enemy meant for evil.
Embrace My Perspective in all relationships and My Restoration and healing will flow like a river in which to swim,” says The Father.
“Many of my people say they forgive, but then they say, “I forgive — but I will never forget what happened and how it hurt me and I will never ever trust that person again.”
What that really means is, you have closed your heart to the offender, and you are still carrying the offense in your heart as a reminder.
The one who offended them will never have a special place in their heart that they once had, and many times they will never have a place in their heart at all,” says The One Who Loves.
“But I say, “What about Me?”
I set the example for forgiveness on The Cross and I taught you in My Word how I loved Peter.
Just as I saw the imperfections in My servant Peter, I see the imperfections in My Chosen Ones, but I see the potential I have placed in them which is far greater than their perfections,” says The LORD God.
“Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.” Matthew 18:21-22 KJV
I love the words to this song. It is so true. We tend to give into our feelings when we are hurt, when we are wronged (in our eyes) and when we respond in a ‘get even’ attitude.
Forgiveness
It’s the hardest thing to give away
And the last thing on your mind today
It always goes to those who don’t deserve
It’s the opposite of how you feel
When they pain they caused is just too real
Takes everything you have to say the word
Forgiveness, forgiveness
It flies in the face of all your pride
It moves away the mad inside
It’s always anger’s own worst enemy
Even when the jury and the judge
Say you’ve got a right to hold a grudge
It’s the whisper in your ear saying set it free
Forgiveness, forgiveness
Forgiveness, forgiveness
Show me how to love the unlovable
Show me how to reach the unreachable
Help me now to do the impossible
Forgiveness, forgiveness
Help me now to do the impossible
Forgiveness
It’ll clear the bitterness away
It can even set a prisoner free
There is no end to what its power can do
So let it go and be amazed by what you see through eyes of grace
The prisoner that it really frees is you
Forgiveness, forgiveness
Forgiveness, forgiveness
Show me how to love the unlovable
Show me how to reach the unreachable
Help me now to do the impossible
Forgiveness
I want finally set it free
Show me how to see what your mercy sees
Help me now to give what You gave to me
Forgiveness, forgiveness
Forgiveness, forgiveness
Forgiveness, forgiveness

In these last days, I hear The LORD say, “I AM dealing with My Church first, as I expose many works of the flesh like pride, rebellion, and unforgiveness, that are not only producing division, but feeding it. It is time to move forward, and advance.
I AM accelerating the time to take care of all unfinished business that is hindering the elevation that I have for this time frame.
There is a large need for deep forgiveness from the heart. The expression “actions speak louder than words” applies to what I see in so many of My Chosen Ones.
My People are void of the understanding that true Calvary Forgiveness has nothing to do with feelings and everything to do with OBEDIENCE.
So I say to you today, take the first step of Forgiveness with a willing heart to obey — out of the heart of Love for The One who first forgave you.
As you walk out Forgiveness from your heart, you will realize that your heart is representing your spirit.
As you continue to walk this out, you will see that you will experience a Heart Change — and no longer see it as you once did,” says The LORD of all.
“As I have taught you, you have many choices to make as My Disciple, that produce life or death.
When you forgive willingly, you release Life, but when you harden your heart, you open the door to bitterness that results in death and builds a wall between you and your LORD.
Beloved, remember, bitterness defiles many!” says The One who forgave all.
Beloved, The LORD Himself is the one Who turns a believer over to the enemy to be tormented, until the believer is willing to forgive his brother.
If we continue to allow our feelings to arise and the offense to remain in our heart, each time we see the person who keeps repeating the offense, we are denying the price that Jesus paid on The Cross.
Indeed, we must guard our hearts with all diligence — for out of it — flows all the issues of Life!
“So above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are. Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life.” Proverbs 4:23 TPT.

Sandi, I pray that this Word will reach so many believers. The enemy used unforgiveness against so many of us, but we will Perfect our forgiveness and walk in the light and truth of God’s Word for our lives and the lives of others.
Even recently, I didn’t even realize that I had not totally forgiven a relative, so I needed to reach out to him in a way that is pleasing to the Lord.
I love what the Lord says here, “Forgiveness does not change what happened but it will change your
heart when you respond in the opposite spirit.
Blessings, in His Love.
Beautiful..thank you.
Dear Sis, You are so welcome. Our God is beautiful beyond description..too marvelous for words. In His everlasting Love, my sister, Sandi
I like what you said “Indeed, we must guard our hearts with all diligence — for out of it — flows all the issues of Life!” Isn’t that the truth. Thank goodness we have a magnificent King that is full of Mercy and Grace and loves us dearly. Hugs, Pamie
Pamie, I guess everyone knows the guard your heart scripture is my ‘THEME’ song..lol! thankful that He speaks constantly to me about my heart! In His everlasting Love, Sandi
Thank you, Sandi. This word dovetails so clearly with your “Let LOVE be Your Motivation” word, which I bookmarked and read monthly, or as often as I need to. Have been wrestling with this issue with a family member and your insightfulness to the Father’s heart has inspired hope in my need to respond. Blessings. Cliff
Dear Cliff, You are so welcome. Yes, many words the Lord gives me are follow ups to a previous one or something to take us deeper on the same word. I so appreciate your kind word and pray the Lord will bring healing to your heart in such a way that your understanding re: how we can carry His heart of understanding in our heart when those issues come up (and they will) to test our love. In His everlasting Love, Sandi
Dear Cliff, After pondering your comment, the Lord led me back to a similar word He gave me in 2021 published here on HKP titled Let Love Be the Motivation of Your Heart. I felt to share it with you as you saw the connection of the recent word. Just thought you might want to check it out..go to the top of the page here on HKP and to the right you can put in the title by me and search for it! The Lord has me write about our heart all the time because that is what my hopefully soon book published book is about. In His Love, Sandi
Just last Sunday my Pastor was explaining how he just couldn’t seem to recover from a past hurt until the Lord told him to write that person a check .
He then offered to offend the congregation so we could all write him a check .
Good evening, Roy Boy, as I read your comment, I got the impression that the hurt was something that concerned money. Thank you for sharing. In His Love, Sandi
Thankyou Sandi for this powerful word and that very beautiful song…you are such a blessing to the body of Christ may you grow from strength to strength Love and blessings
Thank you Roopa Rao for your kind words of encouragement. That is my desire in this hour to be a blessing and to be strengthened daily. Love and blessings to you as you sing the song of Calvary forgiveness. I actually had never heard that song before but the words say it all!! Sandi
Wonderful word! Listening to the song along. Thank you Sandi, we all so need to hear our Lord on this. I loved:
“In these last days, I hear The LORD say, “I AM dealing with My Church first, as I expose many works of the flesh like pride, rebellion, and unforgiveness, that are not only producing division, but feeding it. It is time to move forward, and advance.”
Amen, let’s let it all go and move forward! I love you sister. ❤️
Blessings my sister, Joyce for that powerful agreement. I am so excited for you and your team as you take it to the streets and we celebrate Rosh Hashanah. I believe the Love of the Father is so reaching out to His people in this hour to be cleansed, healed, and delivered so that they can take His healing and salvation to the nations. Love you, Sandi
Thank you for this, Sandi. Very helpful.
Staci, you are so welcome. I am very happy that it helped. Unforgiveness is not a very popular subject especially when someone is still deeply experiencing hurt and nursing a wounded spirit. May God richly bless you as you move forward, Sandi Holman
