The New Era — 3 Comments

  1. A powerful word spoken by The Spirit of God. Let us all welcome the dawning of a new day, and the next move of God.

Yvonne… thank you and may God continue to use you mightily.

  2. Twice in the book of Acts it is said that God does not live in temples “made by hands”, first by Stephen to the Sanhedrin in Acts 7:48 and later by Paul to the Athenians in Acts 17: 24. The repetition of this point in Scripture surely underscores its importance, as does the fact that God allowed the physical Hebrew temple actually to be destroyed in AD70.

However, although charismatic and pentecostal congregations today are defined by their readiness to acknowledge that the Holy Spirit now dwells in people as the temples, according to 1 Corinthians 6:19, there still remains a tendency to think of a church building as a house of God.  For many it may be believed to be the main place to meet God, which is to confuse the spiritual benefit of corporate gathering with the location where it takes place.  Much worse than this is where the practice of gathering mainly – if not exclusively – in corporate buildings, as opposed to homes, entrenches the clergy-laity divide, which crept back in to the Church after the first apostles left to be with the Lord.

Yvonne’s word confirms to me that I have felt we are entering a major new era.  For the elect of God, this must also mean returning to a basic understanding that was first imparted to the Early Church. This requires that we rid ourselves of any of the add-on and distorting religious practices to we each of us may be susceptible. In Exodus 25:40 God gave a single man Moses the pattern building of the physical temple; may He also give each of His people a deeper grasp of the true nature of the Church, starting with the foundational understanding that is “not made by hands”.

  3. I believe what you have spoken with all my heart! Let us not reject what may feel a bit uncomfortable in its beginning stage as it is of the Lord! Great and mighty feats shall we do in the name of the Lord. All you who are sick and tormented, know that healing is on its way. In the name of Jesus, be healed this very day. May all sickness and torment leave your body and your mind in the name of Jesus. Receive your healing in the mighty name of Jesus!
