Turn Your Hearts Towards Me
There is a recent secular song entitled, “Where’s My Husband!“
It isn’t about a woman whose husband has gone astray, but rather the plea of a woman who is still waiting to meet her soulmate.
It is a pleasant change from most recent secular songs in this respect: she cries out to The LORD to hurry her future husband to her side.
The artist even persuaded her grandmother to record a line saying, “Your husband is coming…”
But in other respects it makes me a little sad. The lyrics include lines specifying that “the man must need her completely”, saying how her heart yearns for him.
There is nothing wrong with this per se, and I certainly wouldn’t condemn anyone for wanting a healthy and loving relationship.
However, far too many people believe they are wise in the ways of the world, and they are cynical about faith and commitment, but when it comes to love they still have unrealistic expectations that their spouse should be perfect, and basically be Jesus.
Newsflash: The only Jesus is Jesus Himself. Accept no substitutes!
Whenever I hear that song, I hear the heart of God sighing for His People.
The whole of life must be rooted in God’s love for us and our love for God, as in Ephesians 3:18-19.
Everything heavenly that is treasured in our hearts will flow naturally from this, as Proverbs 4:23 shows us.
The LORD says, “My Children, this is how I long for you. Turn back to Me. Turn your hearts to Me.
Walk in My Love.
Cry out to Me in desperate abandon and longing for Me.
Your abandoned, shameless, heartfelt pursuit of Me hastens My Coming.
I yearn for you. Yearn for Me, as a lovesick newlywed yearns for their new spouse.
Everything else is a paltry, faded shadow of My abounding love for you. Leave it all and come away with Me, My Beloved.
Guard your hearts with all diligence, My pure and beautiful and radiant Bride. Your Bridegroom is Coming.
Yearn to know Me.
Pursue Me with everything there is within in you.
Let My love for you and your love for Me burst out of you like fireworks, showering the skies with the radiance of My light.
Let Me be your First Love. Let Me be your heart’s treasure.
Be absolutely consumed by the things of God.
Let Me be everything to you.
I am absolutely full of love for you.
I delight in you.
I love you.
I love you, I love you, I love you.”
