I could say, “LORD what do you want me to do?”

I could say, “LORD what do you want me to say?”

I could say, “LORD this burden is too much for me to carry?”

I could say, “LORD why do you allow certain things to happen in life?”

I could say, “LORD I am upset with You because things did not go my way?”

I could say lots of things — but I already know what You will say!

“Trust in The LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.”   Psalm 37:3.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”   Proverbs 3:5-6.

“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”   Psalm 46:10.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”   Jeremiah 29:11.

“Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.”   Job 14:1.

“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”   Jeremiah 33:3.

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”  Proverbs 14:12.

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”   1 Corinthians 10:13.

My Thoughts

As a small child my parents made sure I knew:

• The house rules;
• Parent and child relationship rules;
• My duties and responsibilities;
• My expected behavior in public;
• The importance of loving and forgiving;
• How to treat others;
• The results of disobedience.

Occasionally, rules were broken.  Sometimes I tested leniency.  Sometimes I forgot to check my attitude.  Sometimes I failed submission and obedience.  Sometimes I just forgot the rules.

There were times I failed miserably — resulting in a spanking or punishment.

When it was time for a spanking, my parents said, “This is going to hurt me more than you”.

In my child-like thinking — I wondered how pain would transfer from me to my mother and father.  That did not happen!  I didn’t understand “Grace”.

“And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.  For this thing I besought the LORD thrice, that it might depart from me.  And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”   2 Corinthians 12:7-9.

The spankings and punishments were reminders to get back on track.

Right before punishments or spankings came — my parents would begin to tell me what I did wrong.  I would interrupt by saying, “I know – I know – I know!”

I “could say”, lots of things to the LORD when I am going through trials.  But I already know what He is going to say.  I know LORD.  I know.  I just know…..

“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.”   Revelation 3:19.

“Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty: for he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.  He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.  In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.  Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.”   Job 5:17-21.
