Are We Taking the Time to Obey the Word of God?
“For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” James 2:26.
“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” James 1:27.
We are living in a society today where we’ve made it all about us!
We still need to take the time to do the important things in life.
Note: As a Christian, any message I ever present here comes to me first. Then I must examine my own heart and obey.
Good morning.
We are seeing the world we are in today just going way too fast.
This song came back to me strong recently. It seems to fit here.
Everything today seems accelerated as never before!
We don’t even stop and visit others much anymore. In days gone by it was different.
Neighbors used to stop and chat awhile. You checked in on one another in hard times.
This one scripture comes to mind here of what has happened to us today:
“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” Matthew 24:12.
We do find a way to make time for what is important to us.
We might have a relative, friend or co-worker that can’t get out much due to circumstances.
It might even be our own elderly that are shut in or sick that needs us?
Maybe a 30 min visit would be good. Perhaps a phone call along the way?
Maybe they don’t have transportation and just need a quick run somewhere.
Did we ever stop to feel what their world is like?
The Holy Spirit spoke to me one day, years back.
“Loneliness has a voice of its own.”
Make time as it could be any one of us one day!
Maybe you do wave if you go by to people you know who are alone.
You may even honk a horn or holler out of a window.
It could just maybe what time you have to spare.
That’s good & truly better than nothing. You are acknowledging them at least.
Maybe we could work out a visit to a nursing home?
Maybe we could do community volunteering, or visit the ones in jail?
The needs are great in this world and the fields are ripe and wide open for harvest!
If you can’t go, text, email, write or call. Do what you can.
Perhaps your voice may be their only lifeline to the outside world.
We need to think on these things. It surely won’t get us into heaven.
Still, we do remember faith without works is dead?
One last thought:
There is still 24 hours in each day. So plan accordingly with the Holy Spirits help.
God bless you all.
“Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.” Matthew 25: 34-36.
