Called to Carry His Heart of Mercy
“Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow,” Psalm 51:7.
In a world that is in complete spiritual chaos, a single cry should come from The Church: REPENTANCE — for us LORD!
Too often we carry bitter judgments, condemning a world that is already lost and bound for eternal judgement — where is our heart of mercy that would have us stand in the gap and bid the lost to, “COME”?
“It is not the well who need a physician…” (Luke 5:31)
Forgive us Father
For our self-serving ways
For our self-engrossed focus
For our judgments without mercy….
For loveless hearts…
There is a proliferation in the media of both alleged and sometimes genuine prophets whose overriding concern seems to be to make known that God will bring Justice on our behalf.
I don’t dispute this, but there is a more pressing reality to be made known, and that is the Mercy of God.
My justice is not to see “my enemy” obliterated and sent to hell, but in seeing them kneeling before Jesus and glorifying Him.
At the beginning of my conversion, there was an Italian song that has constantly accompanied me throughout my years, and one verse of it said:
“Let me (feel) the weight for all those who wander without a goal, a precise direction, and for those who spend their time in futility, let me tell them that the direction (for life) is in You.”
This is our Calling once we have tasted the Mercy of God.
“So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty. For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.” James 2:12-13 ESV.
When we have come to know the true nature of our Heavenly Father, we desire that more people may come know Him, our Great Physician. In Him alone is Truth, Mercy, Salvation, True Love, and Peace.
“And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance”.” Luke 5:31-32 ESV.
The Word says that we will be known by the love we have for one another,
“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” .John 13:35.
And in Romans 8,
“For the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.” Romans 8:39.
How are we standing in the gap as His sons and daughters, as representatives of His heart to the earth?
What are we doing to make His heart known in the earth?
We hear ourselves shouting and arguing like those of the world without love, pity, and mercy. We hear voices among us that elevate themselves saying, ‘The LORD will give us Justice.
‘‘He will make your enemies your footstool,” Psalm 110:1.
But stop and think from the perspective of Love and Mercy: “what if” these enemies have been placed here for our spiritual growth, for the intention of enlarging our hearts with “Heaven’s perspective” where we are constrained to present them to God for mercy?
They will then indeed become footstools, but not so that we can crush them, but by the virtue of us having mercy on them, they themselves will also lift us up to heaven’s greater purposes of love and mercy to work in the earth.
We must realize that we are the royal representation of Christ on earth.
And what they did to the green wood, they will do also to the dry, so we should send forth a sweet aroma that will gladden the heart of God as Jesus did.
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10 ESV.
Prayer
Father, forgive us because our hearts rage against the wickedness…but we forget that these are people, human beings for whom You have laid so great a price, entrapped in the wicked schemes and narratives of the enemy…
Oh Father in our limited vision, we become offended with you raising criticisms when we should instead be raising praise, thanksgiving, and adoration. …
We ask once again that a burning ember be passed over our mouths, for we are unworthy in this state of “ ferment of heart”(Psalm 73) … We fall so short of offering You the adoration You deserve.
Remove these dirty garments from us and dress us in new clothes washed in the precious Blood of Jesus.
Father, we repent of partnering with an unloving spirit, of allowing ourselves to be corrupted by the shallow self-serving values of this turbulent world.
This has prevented us from hearing the dove of the Holy Spirit, whose voice of peace stands out from the din and chaos of the world.
Merciful Father, reach us wherever we are stuck, and uncover our eyes to see into the realm of the Spirit and hear again Your life-giving voice that ignites our hearts for Your desires.
Once again, we empty ourselves of whatever has entered us to create this inner turmoil that wars against Your righteousness and peace.
Forgive us, Father.
Redeem us, Father.
Undergird us, Father.
Lift us, Father.
Here we are once again. We lay ourselves at Your feet and we ask Your forgiveness for how we have closed our hearts to mercy time and again, and especially for those You have entrusted to us.
Our Father, we do not want to appear as whitewashed tombs, but as renewed, reborn children- redeemed and consecrated to You, the One True God,
Holy forever, You are the Just, Faithful, and Holy Father.
Yet in Your Holiness, You have bent down to us, wretched human beings, and purified us with the precious Blood of Jesus.
Father, may all of us become a praise to You and You alone.
In Jesus Name we pray

I remember the words the Lord spoke to a friend who was working among people who were lost and participating in evil schemes. “Would you rebuke a blind man for being blind?”
So beautiful and so true. We come to You again in repentance, Lord. Help us to reach this place, mercy over judgment, every single time. Every soul, every time.
