1 “The [empty-headed] fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable deeds; there is none that does good or right.”
2 “The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men to see if there were any who understood, dealt wisely, and sought after God, inquiring for and of Him and requiring Him [of vital necessity].”
3 “They are all gone aside, they have all together become filthy; there is none that does good or right, no, not one.”
4 “Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread and who do not call on the Lord?”
5 “There they shall be in great fear [literally–dreading a dread], for God is with the generation of the [uncompromisingly] righteous (those upright and in right standing with Him).”
6 “You [evildoers] would put to shame and confound the plans of the poor and patient, but the Lord is his safe refuge.”
7 “Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When the Lord shall restore the fortunes of His people, then Jacob shall rejoice and Israel shall be glad.”Psalm 14:1-6 (AMPLIFIED).
As I was reading this scripture this morning, and considering current events, and it occurred to me that some Christians have just . . . STOPPED. . . Maybe its questions, doubts, fears, but I guarantee if they stay in this mode of thought they will lose their purpose and end up accomplishing NOTHING for God, today. Today is the day of salvation.
Here in Psalm 14, God says a fool is, “empty headed. . he has gone aside. . . does not good. . .does not call on the Lord. . . and is in great fear. . . and, even puts to shame and confounds the plans of the poor and patient.”
The Bible says, we are to “stir ourselves up on our most holy faith”‘ Jude 1:20. How are you doing today? Are your stirred up for the Lord? Does the way you live your life, the way you present yourself say God is alive and He lives in you? Are you excited about life, do you smile and greet people, do you look nice, not as if you just rolled out of bed, but like you have a purpose?
If not, its time to turn aside to Jesus, to fill up your mind with the Word of God and exchange those thoughts that come from the world, for the thoughts of the Lord, and allow the Holy Spirit to encourage you.
In Proverbs 23:7 it says “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”‘ It all starts with a thought. If your not thinking right, its hard to do right.
Pray, and ask Him show you how you can be used today where you live. It doesn’t have to be earth shattering, but it is important to move forward the Lord. Here, let me give you a shove today. I know its cold outside, and warm by the fire, BUT, get dressed and purpose in your heart to please God today in all you do. He’s looking for those who will walk with understanding, “deal wisely” and seek after Him “inquiring for and of Him and requiring Him [of vital necessity]” Zephaniah 2:3-5. He’s looking for those who will go the extra mile and do something to bring Him glory.
Its time for us ALL to get more hungry for God than ever before. Don’t be STOPPED. . . Don’t allow discouragement or depression to squelch God’s love and purpose in your life. The Lord is not done with you, yet. (Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish; but he who keeps the law [of God, which includes that of man] — blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he”).
