I Knew YOU!
I hear The LORD gently whisper, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you!”
In the midst of Jeremiah’s call to be a prophet, he discovered something amazing. He discovered that God knew who he was.
You are fearfully and wonderfully made!
He knit you in your mother’s womb chosen and set apart. Upon the table of your heart, he has written his promises.
You are stepping into those things ordained for you.
Everything Under the Heaven Is HIS!
One moment all is calm, the next it turns to chaos!
Job loses everything. His assets, his children, and even his health.
The sky to him is getting darker by the minute. The visitors he had during this tumultuous time was not simply the ones to eat his grapes, but to only bring sour ones.
Even his wife wants him to basically pull the plug, curse God and die! His friends have the bedside manner of a drill sergeant claiming Job must have done something wrong.
The friends stay on the offense…. while Job is on the defense.
However the one part that hurt Job the most was not hearing one voice he longed to hear more.
He felt a gulf had been fixed, a wall of silence that could not be penetrated. Yet he still clings to the belief this pain is for a purpose and that God is still in complete sovereign control.
Then God speaks! He speaks out of the storm and into the storm for that is where Job is at.
The questions pour like sheets of rain as Job watches the Master redefine who is who in this universe.
Sometimes God’s questions are not always meant to enlighten, but to awaken!
Job was the clay telling the Potter not to press so hard, but God speaks out of the crescendo of the winds, “Everything under the Heaven is mine!”
You could see the whole book of Job as evidence that God gives us questions and no answers, but that is not how Job heard it.
All his life, he lived as a good man, he believed in God, he prayed to Him. It is in the storm that Job sees Him! He then comes to cast his trust upon the care of the Creator.
You may think you have lost all, but let me tell you what you have:
- You’ve got the King of Kings, The LORD of Hosts.
- You’ve got armies of angels all around.
- You’ve got a dry valley of bones that is now coming alive.
- You’ve got that sweet name above all names through which you can do all things.
- You’ve got the victory as our King Jesus went from the cross and arose from an empty grave. He is going to shake the gates of hell.
The One whom the winds and waves obey. The One who promises to not leave you as a bereaved orphan, but to take his place at your side.
The True Vine that prunes not to destroy, but to purify so more fruit can be borne.
We have One that was tested in every way, but triumphed at that cross and will bring that mighty triumph in the middle of your raging storm.
You will soon look back on this chapter and say, “My Father has done All Things well!”
