To “bear your cross on earth” does not relate to suffering. Although it may ‘equate’ to suffering in this world.
The intention of Jesus was never for you to suffer, but rather to be “branded”!
The cross would become your new identity, testimony and “logo”, that you would carry with you daily –
“I am no longer alive, He now lives in me! I am dead to this world, no longer seeking after its passions and cravings! The cross is my logo (new identity). I now belong to Jesus!” (Galatians 2:20)
This is what Jesus had in mind when He spoke these words….. however….. at the same time He warned us that we WILL SUFFER as a result of how the world would receive us, as those wearing His “logo”!
Suffering then does not come by the will of God for His children.
But rather as the ill response of the world against them, as a result of them being His children!
“Everyone wanting to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” (2 Timothy 3:12).
