Why Cloven Tongues? This is the $64,000 dollar Question. Many have wondered and talked about it. Many have speculated and spoken, yet it seems FEW KNOW. Why? Did God have a significant reason for placing TWO FLAMES OF FIRE ABOVE THE HEAD OF EACH RECEIVER OF THE BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY GHOST on the day the Spirit Baptism was first poured out? What does the word Cloven mean? The word “Cloven” means SPLIT HOOF. It is like a hoof of an OX which pulls the Plow, his feet are CLOVEN, SPLIT DOWN THE MIDDLE. The fact that there are TWO SIDES TO THE HOOF OR FOOT OF THE OXEN WHICH DOES THE WORK IS SIGNIFICANT. The Lord is saying that the FEET OF THOSE WHO WILL BE WITNESSES….. MUST BE CLOVEN. Before one can EFFECTIVELY WALK IN WORK FOR JESUS he must have the PROPER PREPARATION OF HIS FEET. Consider this verse taken from Paul’s description of the proper armor needed to be a good soldier for the Lord, armor prepared to MAKE HIM STRONG and to Stand against all the enemy’s tactics:

EPHESIANS 6:15 ARMOR PIECE #3… “And your FEET SHOD with THE PREPARATION of the GOSPEL of peace.” (Caps mine for emphasis)

There has to be a PROPER PREPARATION before one can WALK AND TALK VICTORIOUS for the Lord. Many are trying to walk HALF FOOTED today. They do not have PROPER SHOES FOR SERVICE if they have not prepared properly!

OH YOU DID NOT HEAR ME, I MUST REPEAT THAT… There has to be a PROPER PREPARATION before one can WALK AND TALK VICTORIOUS FOR THE LORD.

The day of Pentecost must be understood, so let us look again what happened. There was a Sound from Heaven like a mighty rushing wind blowing and it filled the house, then there appeared above each person CLOVEN (TWO) FLAMES OF FIRE and then they began to TALK IN TONGUES. This talking in tongues was the FIRST FLAME. There MUST BE FIRST… A FLAME OF FIRE IN EVERY ONE WHO WILL PREACH THE GOSPEL or else the Message will be of and by man. A man must be SET ON FIRE OF HEAVEN FIRST before he can BURN BEFORE THE WORLD WITH A REVELATION MESSAGE which will IMPART SOMETHING REAL TO THOSE WHO LISTEN. Before one can preach [Prophesy] according to Paul; you must first be prepared and sent out. In the verse below we see again this taught:

Romans 1:15 “And how shall they preach, except they BE SENT? as it is written, HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET of them that preach the Gospel of Peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”

This is why many pulpits lay COLD AND LIFELESS, because men get up and speak up but there is NO FIRE OF REVELATION KNOWLEDGE. They have NO PROPER PREPARATION and they are NOT SENT. The Proper preparation comes from God in the Spirit, and like it or not TONGUES ARE IN THE BOOK, AND BY THE TONGUES COME REVELATION KNOWLEDGE. It is only possible to really give men anything UNLESS YOU DO GIVE THE WORD OF GOD. This is available because in the Word it says MY WORD WILL NOT RETURN UNTO ME VOID BUT WILL ACCOMPLISH THE THING WHERE UNTO I SENT IT. Well, WITHOUT THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, men do give the Word of God and it does work… BUT.. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THE DID GIVE THE WORD OF GOD WITH THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN REVELATION KNOWLEDGE? The Church is hurt today by those who only give the Word but do not have the Power of the Baptism with the Holy Ghost and speak in Tongues and move in the Gifts, namely Prophecy.

A man who has not been filled first with the Holy Spirit and has NOT received the Message and CANNOT IMPART IT!
Many a SPIRITUALLY DEAD person has gone to meetings to hear DEAD PREACHERS and went away DEAD EVEN AS THE CAME. Many a SICK CHRISTIAN has gone for a meeting hoping to be lifted up, but was DRUG DOWN. Many a ILL CHRISTIAN who was sick in body has looked for healing and WENT AWAY YET ILL AND SICK. All because they went to hear a DEAD PREACHER WHO HAD NO HOLY SPIRIT FIRE!

Well NO WONDER JESUS SAID… DO NOT LEAVE JERUSALEM UNTIL YOU RECEIVE THE POWER!

NOTE THIS….. ***((( Well the FIRST FLAME WAS PREPARATION in the Spirit. Is it not MEANINGFUL TO YOU WHO DO NOT BELIEVE TONGUES ARE IMPORTANT,…… that the FIRST GIFT GIVEN AND RECEIVED ON THE DAY OF PENTECOST WAS……

*** ((( SPEAKING IN TONGUES???? )))***

It is very clear when you study what happened, WHY TONGUES? It was because that IN THE GIFT OF TONGUES CAME THE IMPARTATION OF REVELATION KNOWLEDGE. If you will study what Paul later says about Tongues he will describe it as EDIFYING (building up and strengthening by imparting of knowledge or explanation of Mysteries unknown hither before…) Now consider these verses:

1 CORINTHIANS 14:2-4 “For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh NOT UNTO MEN, BUT UNTO GOD: for no man understandeth him; howbeit IN THE SPIRIT HE SPEAKETH … MYSTERIES. (things unlearned or explained)

But he that prophesieth sepaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

He that SPEAKETH IN AN UNKNOWN TONGUE ….. (NOTE THIS)… EDIFIETH HIMSELF but he that prophesieth Edifieth the church.)

NOTE THIS: ***((( The PROPHESYING OF THE WORD OF GOD followed Tongues.)))*** There MUST BE AN IMPARTATION OF CLARITY OF THE TRUTH FROM GOD TO THE ONE PROPHESYING BEFORE THAT ONE CAN EDIFY, EXHORT, OR COMFORT … ANYONE!

CONCLUSION:

The two CLOVEN FLAMES WERE…

#1. Tongues which revealed and imparted REVELATION KNOWLEDGE to all those who were EMPOWERED at the Day of Pentecost.

#2. Those who did receive the Tongues did PROPHECY. Peter in fact did preach HIS FIRST REAL SERMON THAT DAY… and 3000 Jewish men were saved and set free! He was just a fisherman, but on Pentecost… AFTER TONGUES CAME… Peter became a SPIRIT FILLED WITNESS AND PREACHER and he did rise in PROPHECY. When you get to heaven just ask Peter about that day. He probably is still talking about that wonderful day that he just got up and THE MESSAGE CAME TO HIM AND HE JUST SPOKE IT.. AND IT BURNED IN HIS HEART. WOW.

BUT.. Peter was NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT PREACHED THAT DAY…. The 120 who did SPEAK IN TONGUES did preach because the Holy Spirit served as an INTERPRETER and those many Jewish men who were unbelievers did hear a message. They heard them speak and praise God declaring the Wonderful Works of God. Now we do understand from the Writings of Paul again in 1 Corinthians 14:5 that Speaking in Tongues are allowed as PROPHECY when INTERPRETED. Those men heard them and understood them. That was a miracle of interpretation by the HOLY GHOST.

So we have CLOVEN HOOF FLAMES OF FIRE. The FIRST IS: Tongues .. THE SECOND IS: Prophecy. In other Scripture describing those who were Baptized with the Holy Ghost, described them both Speaking in Tongues…. and…. Prophesying. See Acts 19:6

THE PROBLEM WITH THE CHURCH TODAY IS…..

Men who think they are so smart that they do not need to follow the clear pattern of the Word of God in the Book of Acts and have left off THE FIRST GIFT… TONGUES… thinking they are wise enough and have all they need to preach to men, have become fools. The profess themselves to be wise and have become fools. Only God can impart truth, and men are NOT GOD.

I say to you that those who do not USE TONGUES (which will come to ALL WHO BELIEVE AND RECEIVE), they will remain COLD AND UNPRODUCTIVE and will build upon foundations of man. But if and when men are ENDUED FROM ON HIGH WITH TONGUES OF MYSTERIES REVEALED … REVELATION KNOWLEDGE they will SOAR IN THE SPIRIT and they will BUILD FOR ETERNITY A GREAT WORK FOR GOD; they will IMPART that SAME SPIRIT upon all who they LAY THEIR HANDS. They will BAPTIZE THOUSANDS INTO THE KINGDOM OF GOD and they will FLOW IN THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT.
