With Heaven releasing deeper revelations, and many experiencing an increase in Visions, Dreams and Divine Encounters we Must know what it means to “Test the spirit”!
What does THE WORD OF GOD SAY?
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but TEST the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world,” 1 John 4:1.
Friends, we are commanded to “test the spirits to see whether they are from the Spirit of God. In, 1 Thessalonians 5:20-21 we find Paul exhorting Believers not to “despise prophecies, but to test everything…! And hold fast to what is good.
We are instructed by God to “test the spirits” or “test all things,” because there are “many false prophets and false teachers” who are coming disguised as wolves in sheep’s clothing and who will lead many astray.
Having moved in prophetic circles now for almost 20 years, I can say that there are many who claim to speak for God, but which are in fact presenting a false gospel and a false image of WHO GOD IS.
Daily I receive many emails from believers who have been deeply wounded and deeply disappointed by the words and teachings from false prophets and false teachers. Many have been left feeling afraid, confused, disillusioned and frustrated. False teachings and false prophecies have left many with a false sense of hope and expectation.
Many are deceived into thinking and believing that everything is fine, when in fact it could not be further from the truth.
The Word of God alone is THE ONLY PLUMB LINE by which we must TEST ALL THINGS. And Therefore, the only way to test the spirits is to see whether it falls perfectly in line with the UNCHANGEABLE AND INFALLIBLE WORD OF GOD.
TESTING A SPIRIT means that we must “be diligent to present ourselves approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, who rightly divides the word of truth.
Friends, the Word of God is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path, (2 Timothy 2:15). It is vital that the light and love of God shines upon the prophecies, teachings, visions and dreams that we are hearing, reading and accepting.
