The End Time Church
The revelation of The Seven Churches in the Book of Revelation is a accurate description of “Church History”!
No doubt, if you go and study all about the history of The Church comparing The Seven Churches in the Book of Revelation, you will find this to be true.
The last Church mentioned then is a description of “The Church of the latter days“.
It is quite shocking indeed when one reads Revelation 3:14-19 and discover a description that so literally fits most all churches of today.
This last Church was blind to their condition.
They really did not know that they were blind, thinking that they truly did not need anything.
They were blind to their Spiritual Condition. They could not see that they were really wretched, miserable, and poor, blind, and naked!
Somehow ,this End Time Church lost its Spiritual Insight and were really just religious, thinking that they had arrived and were a perfect and acceptable Church.
They did not even know what an indictment it was to be blind to this fact, and that they were really in need of eye-salve so they could clearly see their condition.
Also, they were in need of ‘Spiritual Clothing’.
To The LORD, the way they did dress their bodies was worldly and not Godly.
Today, even the Minister in so many cases does dress worldly, having drifted from a reverent appearance.
They truly were ‘rich’ with much money and things — but in reality they were poor, blind and naked.
Undone yes, but they did not see it nor did they even know!
Reading then today’s text is like looking through a microscope to see today’s Modern Church.
Truly it is an eye opener or a revelation to see the true condition, like reading today’s newspaper.
One of the main characteristics of this End Time Church was that they were not hot nor were they cold — but somewhere in between — only lukewarm.
We know that the Word of God says that The Church should be hot — Spirit filled and on Fire for God!
Any Bible Preacher who is red-hot for Jesus and preaches The Bible will not and is not welcome in most all of today’s Churches.
They will be labeled old fashioned and distant to today’s culture!
Today’s Church is not on fire or heavenly minded — but they are worldly and have lost their way!
This then is a most serious Study, and it moves us all to consider the Condition of today’s Church.
Today’s Scripture Text:
“And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.” Revelation 3:14-19.
An additional Scripture:
“Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” 2 Timothy 3:5.
