The Old — New Candlestick
Today in Church, we heard that an old candlestick from the last temple period, had been found in Jerusalem.
“A rare clay candle from the late Roman period, decorated with the symbol of the menorah, an incense burner, and a lulav, was recently uncovered during an archaeological excavation by the Israel Antiquities Authority near the Mount of Olives. The unique find, which, judging by the soot marks on its spout, was used for lighting about 1,700 years ago, provides a fascinating glimpse into the cultural and religious life of the Jews during this period.
“The artistic quality of the candle, which was found intact, is exceptional and rare in its quality,” says Michael Tchernin, director of the excavation on behalf of the IAA. “The menorah, the incense burner, and the lulav are symbols related to the Jewish population’s connection to the Temple.” ©jewishp[ress.com
How apt that it was found around the Hanukkah season — the season that celebrates the miracle of the oil lasting eight days instead of the one days supply they thought they had.
Not unlike The Bible account of the widow of Zarapheth in 1 Kings 17,
Elijah and the Widow
“Then the word of The LORD came to him, saying, “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup, that I may drink.” And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.”
So she said, “As The LORD your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”
And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. For thus says The LORD God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day The LORD sends rain on the earth.’ ”
So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of The LORD which He spoke by Elijah.” 1 Kings 17:8-16
It almost immediately occurred to me that The LORD is saying something to The Church through the finding of this treasure — that in some way, The LORD is illustrating the answer to the verses in Revelations 2, where He threatens to remove their candlestick if they don’t mend their ways!
The Loveless Church
“To the angel of the church of Ephesus write, ‘These things says He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands: “I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary. Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent. But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.” ’” Revelations 2:1-7
What I heard in my spirit was this, “I AM giving My Candlestick back to The Church — both in Jerusalem and around the world!”
The implications of this for Jews and Christians alike are incalculable!
The LORD is giving candlesticks where He sees a willingness to go forward with Him, under the guidance of Holy Spirit.
The light given off by these candlesticks will attract non-believers and less committed believers alike.
The Harvest in Israel will be just amazing and the harvest in the world may help to usher in Revival beyond anything we’ve even dreamed about.
How will we know if a church or messianic congregation is carrying one of these candlesticks?
By their love, and by their fruit. John 13:35 and Matthew 7:15-20 . . .
Just calling the intercessors to pray over this!
” By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35.
You Will Know Them by Their Fruits
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.” Matthew 7:15-20.
