The Lord Jesus declares:
“My pastors and elders must learn to disciple the Christians I tell them too.
How can the needs of a person in the congregation be met by a one hour general sermon a week or by a bible study on a topic unrelated to their needs?
When you disciple a person, you spend time with a person individually learning about them, discussing their problems and needs, encouraging them and supporting them by your words.
The example of your life should an encouragement to them, meeting any needs they have and working with their parents to do what is best for them.
You should be teaching them to be able to disciple others and not just deal with the problems of the Christian life.
Satan has trained the church not to disciple others so that the Minister is always important and the focus of the church.
He has also taught the church that knowledge is important so that at a sermon provides knowledge but not a lot of practical application.
A half hour sermon provides little application and mostly shows the knowledge and learning of the minister.
Until the church disciples those I tell it too, it will only have a minister and a few people trained by the congregation to do the work, when I require all the congregation to be able to present the gospel and deal with the problems of the Christian life and disciple others as best they can.
So minister an elders are you discipling or are you following the Nicolaitan system I hate.
