What’s wrong with the Gospel — the Gospel of Jesus Christ — including Repentance?

It’s hardly ever preached in Church any more!

A couple of years ago, I read an article written on the back of a survey taken of around 9000 Churches. The Gospel had not been preached in over two thirds of them in two years!

In over 1000 Churches, The Gospel had not been preached in memory — not once.

No wonder there is so little growth, so much decline.

I was in London talking to an African pastor a few years ago. I asked him what had led him to come to The United Kingdom to start a Church?

His answer shocked me at the time, but now it makes a great deal of sense. He looked me straight in the eye and said this,

“Many years ago, your missionaries came to my country bringing The Gospel with them.

Now, it is our turn to bring it back to you.
+
It is time for us to preach The Gospel to you!”

Today I see the wisdom and truth of his Words.

It is time, once again, to preach salvation through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Him crucified for our sin, risen again and sitting at God’s right hand — so that we might have eternal life as a gift — nothing we can earn — but a gift.

We need to hear and receive this Gospel, repent and turn from our sin, confess Jesus as LORD, and receive the gift of eternal life.

There is no other way. It is through Christ alone that we find salvation.

Jesus said, “I AM The Way, The Truth, and The Life. No-one comes to The Father except by Me.” (John 14:6 )

This is what The Church needs to preach now.

Not a watered down, easy “say this prayer after me” Salvation, but true Repentance for our sins, a turning from them, and salvation for eternal life.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.” Romans 1:16

It really is that simple!
