Introducing Relationship to a New Age Mindset
I met a lady who was probably in her 70s. It was hard to tell, because she was so beautiful.
She was hosting me at the time, and on the surface anyone would think she was truly blessed with wealth and therefore everything else. We can so easily look on the outside and assume these things.
I saw her almost daily, sitting by her pool enjoying the spring sunshine.
I sensed The Holy Spirit was showing me, that she was burdened with a sadness, and so I asked Him if there would be any opportunity to talk to her.
I also sensed she was into some kind of a ‘New Age mindset’. She seemed a very private person and so I wondered how this would happen, but one morning she ambled over to me for something quite small, and so I got talking to her.
I’ll be really authentic here, and say that I had this underlying old mindset where I felt beneath her. It was something I thought I had dealt with, but it came back, because it hadn’t been.
What I thought would be a two minute conversation turned into half an hour, and a truly deep and open one.
I told her about plans we have for the future, and her words were “Groovy, you’re so brave!”
I could believe by those words that she was a 60’s child. I told her about my Faith and that He takes fears away and walks the path with me.
She started talking about meditation and yoga and her recent trip to India that her friends made her go on, because she was recovering from an illness.
It was interesting, because she had a far-away look to her as she said that she had terrible nightmares when she came back — about being a ballerina who was kidnapped and taken down dark roads in India.
She said she’d never told anyone about that before.
The Holy Spirit often opens people up and they often seem surprised.
Then she said the words so many do, “I suppose all religions point to the same god though, don’t they?”
I told her that there is one particular difference that is very important, and that is relationship, and that I have a relationship with Jesus and that I know him.
I was telling her about His beautiful smile and His amazing sense of humour and how much He loves her.
She began to weep and said that she wished she could believe that, and that her sister has a strong Christian faith.
She said her sister has stage 4 cancer and yet she told her she was at peace and not frightened to die — and her family have struggled with a lot of illness.
I asked her if I could hold her hands and pray over her and for her family, to bless her and speak life over her sister and how much Jesus loved her. Again, she wept.
She came over a few days later and we had another long conversation. She said she would miss me and that I always make her cry. I told her that’s The Holy Spirit at work.
On the last day, we wanted to say goodbye and I told her to listen to a song that I felt The Holy Spirit wanted her to listen to.
I’ve never heard it before, but it had her name in it and was released in the 60s.
She said she remembered that song. It’s definitely not a Christian song but The Holy Spirit knows why.
Not only did The Father want to heal her, but He healed me in the process of a false belief trying to come back in. I bless her for that.
Thank you LORD!
I forgot to add that this dream that she shared with me impromptu, seemed like at some point in her life, her freedom and creativity (ballet dancer) had been snatched away, and that something was making her feel imprisoned, uncertain and unable to know what road to go down.
I hope The Holy Spirit reveals this to her.
