Grace For The Race!
Grace — For The Race,
Faith — For The Fight,
Oil — For The Journey
The Holy Spirit calls Life in Christ Jesus “the race set before us” and “the good fight of Faith!”
Hence, as Paul said, “let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,” yes, “Fight the good fight of Faith, lay hold of Eternal Life,” (Hebrews 12:1; 1 Timothy 6:12).
We must always ask for Grace for the race, Faith for the fight and fresh Oil for the journey.
In athletics, both runners (in long distance events) and boxers display a common discipline: they put in their utmost best especially in the last lap and the final round of their race and fight respectively.
Their motivation? To obtain the prize!
“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.” 1 Corinthians 9:24-27.
In the natural, normal, non-cheating sportsmen and women compete in their own strength. But in The Spirit, we must only run the race and fight the fight through Christ Who strengths us.
Remember that, “The race is not to swift, nor the battle to the strong…” It is not by our might nor by our power; it is by The Spirit of The LORD. (Ecclesiastes 9:11; Zechariah 4:6).
Life in Christ can only be lived by The Holy Spirit. Depend only on The Holy Spirit in everything and for everything.
Always ask Jesus Christ The Greater-Than-Solomon here for His Wisdom in everything and for everything.
The LORD Himself said:
“The queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and indeed a greater than Solomon is here.” Matthew 12 42.
That diligent and wise woman reportedly travelled 1,200 KM to hear the wisdom of Solomon. (Although in spite of that wisdom, Solomon became foolish and his life ended foolishly).
How much more should we zealously seek and use The Wisdom Jesus Christ The Greater-Than-Solomon here with us, not 1,200 KM away?
This is The Wisdom which did not sin and does not sin. This is The Wisdom which created all things. This is The Wisdom of God, The Mind of Christ. We must always ask The LORD for His Wisdom to make it.
Be fervent and zealous to pray: “LORD, give me wisdom for…(mention the need)” And He will faithfully and generously supply the wisdom you require to make it in any situation.
Also, pray for Faith:
“LORD Jesus, You ARE The Originator and Perfecter of our faith.
As You prayed for Peter, pray for me that my faith will not fail — for You always live to make intercession for us. LORD, increase my faith.
THANK You LORD Jesus. Amen.”
Brethren, ask and you will receive.
Additionally, in whatever difficulty you find yourself, ask The LORD for “the way of escape, that you may be able to bear [endure] it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Furthermore, ask The LORD for fresh oil. The well-oiled believer runs and fights without feeling sore, wearied and overwhelmed. The Oil of God helps us to make it in God.
Scripture variously refers to The Oil of God as “fresh oil”, “excellent oil”, “the precious oil”, “the oil of joy”, “the oil of gladness” (Psalms 92:10; 141:5; 133:2; Isaiah 61:3; Hebrews 1:9).
Pray for fresh oil “so that times of refreshing may come from The Presence of The LORD,” (Acts 3:19).
I am speaking what I have experienced, even recently. You’ll feel Divinely delightful and energised, pleasantly light and joyful by just praying:
“LORD, I ask You for fresh oil… LORD, anoint me with fresh oil, excellent oil, the precious oil, the oil of joy, the oil of gladness.”
Also pray to God to experience the joy of His Salvation, the “joy of faith”, the “joy of The Holy Spirit” (Psalm 51:12; Philippians 1:25; 1 Thessalonians 1:6).
Finally, ask The LORD Jesus to heal you of griefs you have been grieved by various trials. As 1 Peter 1:6 says, “you have been grieved by various trials.”
Ask The LORD to heal you of those griefs and to strengthen you.
I pray for you that: “may The God of All Grace, Who called us to His Eternal Glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be The Glory and The Dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Peter 5:10-11).
I stated it in some of my previous writings. And I do so here also: It is the last lap of the race, it is the final round of the fight. Let us run and fight in such a way to certainly obtain it.
“Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of The Heavenly Calling, consider The Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus,” (Hebrews 3:1); ALWAYS ask Him for Grace for the race, Faith for the fight, and fresh Oil for the journey.
“The LORD Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.” 2 Timothy 4:22.
“Farewell” Acts 15:29.
~ Jacob Awagah
Jacob, an apostle of Jesus Christ by The Will of God, according to The Promise of Life which is in Christ Jesus, (2 Timothy 1:1). As John was, Jacob is the disciple whom JESUS loves, (John 13:23;19:26; 20:2; 21:7,20). And like Paul, Jacob is “the prisoner of CHRIST JESUS” (Ephesians 3:1) for His Purpose forever: to obey Him always.
“And having been perfected, He became The Author of Eternal Salvation to all who obey Him,” Hebrews 5:9.
Brother Jacob, this is an excellent word. I have been feeling worn out; and now I am refreshed! Thank you!
We have such a cool God who LOVES to blow us away with what He does!! These EXACT two verses were on my mind ALL DAY!
I must need to do some digging on this! Your words are always encouraging. Thank you brother!
Thank you so much for the wisdom and needed prayers.
God Bless.
