Hearts of Gratitude Responding …
Recently, I observed some of the younger generation’s attitudes towards loving parents, and I asked my Abba how it was possible that children to whom deep love is shown could behave in such a way that would break the heart of their parents?
I feel strongly that sometimes The LORD allows us to be aware of such attitudes, and even feel the sting come against us so that we can understand His heart even more, and the generosity of His great mercy in reaching to our own mercurial hearts.
We often ask, “Father, Let us know your heart, let us experience what you feel.”
When we experience a “betrayal of love” the LORD is giving us opportunity to experience firsthand what it means to give of ourselves for those in our care, while receiving ingratitude or indifference in return.
We must consider that we too were once on the opposite side of Grace and Mercy, lost in our own selfish, short-sighted perspectives until His love broke through.
Prayer
Loving Father, “gracious, slow to anger and plenteous in mercy!”
How much You endure of our short-sighted ignorance in your infinite patience and Grace. Even though You could wipe us out with a breath for our continued wickedness of heart: “You have not dealt with us after our sins nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.”
Wonderful, Sublime and Exalted Father, one lifetime is not enough to thank You for this great love.
Make us, as Your children, deeply aware of the love You constantly pour out on each of us, because not even a shred or a crumb of this love must go unnoticed and unrecognized.
Father, it is a wonder in Your holiness, how You can tolerate us in our ingratitude and selfishness, but in Your Word You tell us, “As a father loves and pities His children, so the LORD loves and pities those who fear Him with reverence, worship and awe.”
It is true. We can see it firsthand in Your Word, that You are LOVE.
It is not just a letter, or some obtuse Bible verse, but tangible proof of Your immense Heart of compassion and love for us.
It is out of love that you created the entire universe, it is out of love that you sacrificed your only begotten Son.
Father, eradicate from us all these self-seeking and ungrateful ways.
Let Christ come to dwell fully in the midst of our hearts, and be formed within us as we humble ourselves and give to You the adoration and gratitude of our hearts.
LORD, you Who are the powerful “I AM”, speak Your Word into our hearts and we will all be transformed, regenerated, and redeemed.
Father, we are weary of our finite perspectives.
It is You and Your ways that we long for.
Come! Come and reign in us.
Through Christ our LORD, Amen.
The Steadfast Love of The LORD Never Ceases
“The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever.
He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.” (Psalm 103:7-14 ESV)
