It’s been written, that He was going to do a new thing.
What might it be that The LORD is going to do differently than He’s been doing before? One thing is sure, things cannot and will not go on as they have been.
There is a question we must now answer honestly; no finger pointing, no debating and no excuses.
Has the Church as we know it, reached that fullness it was intended to reach?
Have we gotten anywhere close to that perfection or that unity in the faith that was so clearly recorded?
It no longer matters whether some feel the subject of the 5-fold ministry is mundane or even old news. All of these, operating in their fullness, were to bring us to the place the New Testament Church was supposed to be.
Another question must be required; have they truly operated as they were ordained and intended, to their full extent?
The answer, is no.
If prophets/ prophetesses were often suppressed in many fellowships and even silenced in houses of worship, all the work did not get done. The work was hindered.
If ordained and anointed teachers were not used to teach the Word to God’s People, their learning and growth was also hindered.
The work of the evangelist, was never meant for just preaching to the sinners. Their responsibility was also to speak to the saints, and to have the liberty and freedom to follow the leading of The Holy Ghost.
It was never meant that the pastor should suffer burn-out, for trying to “wear all five hats.” All ministries were to work hand and hand together; each one complimenting the other; subject to each other.
Many of us have heard The Voice of The Spirit speak through certain people — words of wisdom, words of knowledge, tongues and also the interpretation of tongues.
We witnessed anointed and gifted men and women prophesy, both peaceful and good sounding things and also warnings.
Whether praising or correction, if it was truly of The Spirit — it was edifying to the body of Christ.
What many seemed to shy away from, was if someone said that The Voice of The LORD spoke to them. You remember that hesitancy….. “in an audible voice!”
But why not? God spoke to many people in an audible voice in the Old Testament, why would He not do the same in the New. He does, and He always has?
God’s Word is alive! He clearly speaks to us through His written Word. That’s settled.
Hear what Jesus said. “My sheep, know my voice….” meaning, they hear it.
In the last of the writings, Jesus said without dispute, “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the Churches…..”
There is a strong impression that some may not hear; either they could not or would not. He might also have implied, that some were not listening — for whatever reason.
Angels have always spoken to mankind — they still do. In the midst of more turmoil and clamor than every before, we must be able to see and hear.
God is talking to some people. His Spirit is speaking in a direct manner to their spirit. There will be more communication in the realm of The Spirit than most have experienced until now.
If the forces of darkness are growing heavier and louder, and they are, we must be able to hear above it all. God does yet speak in that still small voice. I’m so glad that He does. But He also talks directly to those whom He wants to address and give His clear direction to.
We once sang an old song called “In The Garden.” There were words that said, “….and He walks with me and He talks with me, and He tells me I am His own.”
You can’t tell me today, that Jesus will not come and talk with you. The closer we come to Him, the more we will know Him.
I need Him more today than I have ever needed Him in my whole life. If I pour my heart out to Him and talk to Him, why would He not talk back to me. It’s really that simple. We will either have a greater depth in The Spirit now, or we will remain the same.
In this hour, we must follow the leading of The Spirit. It has never been more critical that we hear what He is saying; yes, at any given moment.
Holy Ghost, tell me what to say; speak to me in every thing that I do.
God, let your angels, even the Angel of The LORD, speak where I can hear and clearly understand.
The kingdom of darkness has risen up to defeat me and to destroy His church.
I will study your word, I will pray in the Spirit and I will fast as you call me to do.
But I have to hear you; I will lose my way otherwise.
I know your voice better now; and another, I simply have no wish to follow.
