Focus: The Key to Unlocking the Glory in You!
“For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!] Since we consider and look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting), but the things that are invisible are deathless and everlasting.”2 Corinthians 4:17-18.
I studied this chapter in the bible for almost a year a couple of years ago and in these two verses something became so clear to me.
First, all of our issues and afflictions that we suffer for the Gospel’s sake are not working against us, but are working for us, a more exceeding weight of glory! Hallelujah!
But in this passage, there is a key to going through all that we endure! It is FOCUS!
That is right, it is what we focus on that will determine if we go through or not.
In this passage it is saying that as we look not on what we see with our natural eyes, (the things that are going on all around us.)
As we get our eyes off of our problems and understand that they are only temporary, and fix our eyes, or think about what is eternal that, then these distresses will prepare in us a more exceeding weight of Glory!
What you focus on will be your key to victory!
It seems to me that the Holy Spirit in these passages is truly emphasizing the fact that we need to focus on the fact that this thing that we are going through, is only temporary and short lived in comparison to the eternal Glory that God is working in our lives.
God is speaking today, to truly be cautious of what you are focusing on, so that He can bring the upgrade in your life!
