The Second Prayer Watch

Prayer Watches: The Second Watch (9:00 p.m.-12:00 midnight)

We have been learning about the significance of prayer watches as we study and develop a culture of prayer on a deeper level.

Please note these teachings are not mandatory.  But they can because they are mentioned in God’s word, become a helpful tool for those who want to learn more about the role of an intercessor or watchman.  During these times of upheaval in our nations locally and abroad, they can be very effective component to the people of God as they pray and study his word.
Concerning more benefits of prayer watches:

  • Watches help establish foundations for breakthrough;  it strengthens and represents kingdom mandates in laying the foundation of the government of God in the earth.  Prayer plants the reality that as the kingdom of heaven has already been established, as it resembles the rule and reign of the Lord here upon the earth through his people.
  • We as believers are called to help cultivate our prayer life which becomes a lifestyle of staying before the presence of the Lord in our private and public time of seeking Him.  As we further answer the call to pray in our churches, our communities and our homes we are greatly exhorted to pray as it ties in with victories that were achieved in scriptures that occurred throughout the history of the bible from Genesis to Revelation.

The second watch has to do with Divine Favor with God:

This is an excellent time to pray for provision, divine supply and freedom from all limitations.  It designates a time to pray to overcome oppression, overcome lack, and any financial restraints. In the biblical recordings this was the time that the children of Israel received favor from their oppressors right before they left Egypt.

Midnight prayer and praise is also exercised on this side of the 2nd watch just as it is in the 3rd watch.  Remember, it was the favor of God with the captain of the guard that released Paul and Silas out of prison.

Pray over an outpouring of praise, prayer and worship within your churches as well as house groups, and anywhere the praises of God are walked out is essential.

We can pray over an outbreak higher levels of fervent prayer because this was the time when Jesus asked the disciples to pray with him for one hour which historians say was approximately around 9:00 p.m.  At 11:00 p.m. He returned and they were asleep, when He returned the third time it was said to be midnight.  Pray victory over trials, temptations and protection against betrayals.

Pray for angelic protection as the angels ministered unto Jesus during the time of great fervent prayer in step with Christ’s obedience to the Father as he was praying in the garden.

Pray that the kingdom purposes of God be fully established upon the earth.

Pray for resources needed for every God-given project.  This was the time when God’s people received what they needed to build the tabernacle in the wilderness.  (Excellent time to pray provision for building projects.)

My prayer is that your War Room becomes filled with prayer guides and aids to increase your time before His presence.
