The Treasury of Snow
As I awoke this morning to a blanket of white outside, The LORD began to speak to me about the snow.
I am not really a snow loving person as I am sure we all have our favorite seasons, but there is something still so serene and beautiful about it.
I have a dear friend who is under lots of snow right now and I am sure she might disagree with me on that part.
However The LORD had a lot to say about it this morning and placed some drops of encouragement into my spirit for you.
When God reminds Job of His infinite greatness and power, He called snow a treasure.
I say many of us differ on that as it seems the farthest thing from a treasure sometimes.
However God told it to be here, so who am I to complain. Each one of those snowflakes is a powerful declaration of God’s creative brilliance and power.
This snow is the picture of Grace. I heard The LORD say, “Look at the snow! That’s how I see you!”
WOW! Though all of our sins were as scarlet, he sees us as this pure and shimmering white that surrounded me.
“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” Psalm 51:7.
As I stood in it, there was such a vast quiet, this lovely white blanket brings a tranquility that is absolutely peaceful.
For a moment, all the noise of the world just stopped.
It was just me and The LORD in this snow.
The same God who sends this snow can send whatever you need!
If He has no problem with creating these several billion microscopic, unique snow flakes and telling them where to go, He can handle whatever you need!
My thoughts then turned to Benaiah and the lion that stumbled into a snowy pit together.
Could things be any worse than being in a pit with a lion on a snowy day? The lion had a huge advantage in the snow, however Benaiah didn’t care about odds.
He trusted his God, and God used Him to do the unthinkable and defeat the lion.
Whatever brings you to the end of your strength, shall help you rest fully upon His!
Sometimes God sends the snow just to “tip the scales” in His favor!
Finally and a favorite part for many, the snow eventually melts.
Whatever icy trial grips your life right now, just know that it will not last forever.
Spring is coming for you! The melt will happen — count on it!
Your possibilities and prayers may have been held hostage and looked to be frozen.
I know you found yourself in this season at such a place of interruption. Maybe this interruption was just the gift you needed.
“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it!” Isaiah 55:10-11.
“Benaiah was the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man from Kabzeel, who had done many deeds. He had killed two lion-like heroes of Moab. He also had gone down and killed a lion in the midst of a pit on a snowy day“ 1 Chronicles 11:22.
“Have you entered the treasury of snow, or have you seen the treasury of hail,” Job 38:22.
