Mr. Holland’s Opus

When I think of flowing in the Spirit and using the gifts and talents that God has given us, I am reminded of a line in a movie, that for many years in a row we would show to the kids in English class as all of the other kids were still taking istep tests. It was from a scene in Mr. Holland’s Opus where young Gertrude Lang couldn’t seem to play her instrument without feeling like a failure. Suddenly, through tears as she laid it down thinking that she would never play it again, Mr. Holland’s asks her, “When you look in the mirror,what do you like best about yourself?” She answers, “My Hair.” Then he says, “Why?” She replies “Well my Father always says that it reminds him of the sunset” Then Mr. Holland’s says back to her, ” Play the sunset. Close your eyes. One, two, three, four…….”

“What Does Papa Love About You?”

What is is about you that your Heavenly Papa loves? What is it in you or about you that He adores and gets pleasure from? What is it that causes you to know that He put you here on this earth for? Sometimes we are trying so hard to “Fit In” and do what everyone else is doing that we forget about our true beauty and we struggle because we are trying to play something by memory or do something that we were never meant to do. Many go their whole life never knowing their true worth.

There Is Something Unique About You!

There is something about you that God created you for. It is to carry His glory. There is an aspect of God that is unique to you and you alone. 1 Peter 4:10, says that, “we are the many faceted grace of God.”

THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT YOU THAT JUST FLOWS WHEN YOU BEGIN TO MOVE IN IT! There is something about you, that when you do it in God’s timing that brings an “ahhhhhhhh” with those whom it touches!

This thing that God gave you may be one of many things BUT IT BRINGS DELIGHT TO YOUR FATHER BECAUSE IT IS TRULY WHAT YOUR WERE CREATED FOR! When you are moving in this it becomes our worship to Him. It is giving Him back what He has given to you! You know when you’re moving in it because there is a beauty in it and it flows…

~ Oh, He is saying to you today, “Play the sunset, close your eyes, one, two, three, four……… “

“For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them,” Romans 12 :4-6 (NKJV).

“As each of you has received a gift (a particular spiritual talent, a gracious divine endowment), employ it for one another as [befits] good trustees of God’s many-sided grace [faithful stewards of the extremely diverse powers and gifts granted to Christians by unmerited favor],” 1 Peter 4:10.
