UK: From a British Bulldog Season, Into an Iron Lady Era — 19 Comments

  1. Sorry, Veronika, you seem to be a bit confused as to the meaning of the term ‘racist’, in terms of ‘groups of people classed according to common racial, national, tribal, religious, linguistic, or cultural origin or background’?
Church and spiritual history in Scotland is quite different from south of the border. My countrymen paid the price in their blood for me to be able to have a copy of the bible.
Westminster was racist towards Gordon Brown when he became PM. I was told that he should ‘go back to where he came from’, by an English friend – which of course I called out.
The ‘iron lady’ was hated in Scotland for the way she treated working class Scots, and the Tories still are, so another ‘iron lady’ may well trigger a yes vote for independence and the break up of the UK.
Not a prophetic word. Just a lesson from history and cultural observation.

  2. Please define ‘iron lady mantle’, and is this a word for England only or for the whole of the United Kingdom, as it smacks of English nationalism? The ‘iron lady’ was and is hated for the racist and disgusting way that working class Scots in Scotland were treated in the 1980’s.  The miners were only recently ‘pardoned’ in 2020 by the Scottish Government. (The way extinction rebellion & other ‘protesters’ since 2020 have been treated by police recently in comparison is a disgrace).
Another ‘iron lady’, might have the effect of pushing Scotland towards independence.
Pro-apartheid whites in South Africa also loved the ‘iron lady’, because she went easy on sanctions on apartheid.
