Divine Protection
“But The LORD had hidden them….” = Divine Protection
“And the king commanded Jerahmeel [a]the king’s son, Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to seize Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet, but The LORD hid them.” Jeremiah 36:26.
Your hiding place is your honour; when the one who hides you is God.
The place where God hides you may seemingly appear to be a punishment to others — its protection and a process in divine surveillance and order.
When you feel God hides you in some form or the other — Stay put!
Don’t enter the limelight before God shines his light — His Light — His time!
Jeremiah was lowered down in a dungeon as a punishment, which became his protection, his hiding place!
“They were angry with Jeremiah and had him beaten and imprisoned in the house of Jonathan the secretary, which they had made into a prison.
Jeremiah was put into a vaulted cell in a dungeon, where he remained a long time.
Prophets survive by the word not by bread,” Jeremiah 37:15-16.
God protects the Prophets whom he uses as His Mouthpiece, because of His Words which they carry.
God’s intention of choosing vessels is very focused on carrying His Word as a ‘Vessel of Honour’.
Most Vessels of Honour are treated with dishonour in the world.
The weight of the Word they carry, makes God very mindful of their place and function — hence they cannot wander or waver from His grip, but should cleave and cling to him and his heart — and so will our life and calling be!
What a blessed relationship to be known and to know God in this intimacy.
God was very intentional about Jeremiah and Baruch to write down His Words in a scroll and the Words he heard were pronounced by Jeremiah to the people of Israel and they sought to kill him for the Words which confronted them — but he escaped by his life!
Jeremiah wept a lot more than he spoke!
God shut Jeremiah’s mouth condemning his unnecessary lament of sorrow and asked him, “Are you not happy with My Call over you and your calling unto me? Are you seeking greater things for yourself?” (Jeremiah 45:5)
This was a loud call of God over Jeremiah’s purpose and destiny!
Prophets as human as they are, tend to mistake their Calling and begin to aspire more over time seeing contemporary prophets prospering over the Words — making profit with falsities!
But The Word of God nails it through Prophets like Elijah, Elisha ,Ezekiel, Daniel,Jeremiah, Amos, and all the minor prophets, that their Call was to speak, to warn and bring about Repentance and ready hearts for a relationship with God, where God’s own people are living as outcasts.
Repentance is revival.
Grace should not silence Repentance and bury Holiness.
The Resurrection power of Jesus was Love and Holiness personified!
Grace should not make these appear too weighty and lawful for human beings to abide to rather should endorse relationship with Jesus as the means to finding Grace .
“Are you seeking great things for yourself? Don’t do it! I will bring great disaster upon all these people; but I will give you your life as a reward …” Jeremiah 45:5.
When Jeremiah was confused, depressed, stressed and lamenting, he had no option or purpose of a new new theology or therapy. Rather, he was to become a Testament of God’s Guidance — be it in the dark dungeon or in a cistern!
“Jeremiah was put into a vaulted cell in a dungeon, where he remained a long time. Then King Zedekiah sent for him and had him brought to the palace, where he asked him privately, “Is there any word from The LORD?””
“Yes,” Jeremiah replied, “you will be delivered into the hands of the king of Babylon.” Jeremiah 37:16-17.
The Word from God defines a Prophet — wherever he was out, when people sought him
for God’s Word, he did not falter; he spoke fervently!
Grace will find you when you walk in a relationship that leads you right to God’s Heart!
