In God is our Trust

Francis Scott Key “The Star-Spangled Banner”
(from the original manuscript) Last Stanza:
“O thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand,
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation,
Blessed with vict’ry and peace, may the heav’n rescued land,
Praise the power that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave,
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!”
Dear Ones: In God is our Trust!
As we go about preparing to celebrate the 4th of July and America’s liberty and freedom, consider the last stanza of our National Anthem (above).
The founding generation that withstood the superpower of England still call us to trust in God for our continued survival.
Freedom is not free. Much blood and sacrifice were the cost of our liberty during the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. (Both fought against England.)
“We The People” are to enjoy and celebrate the day we declared our independence.
But never forget that the founders were not assured of victory in the natural.
So, they appealed to Heaven knowing that the Champion of Heaven was the only One Who could insure their victory.
John Adams said it well. “We have no Sovereign but God, and no King but Jesus.”
If we keep this last stanza of the anthem alive in our hearts, then we shall prevail against our enemies: natural and spiritual.
The motto — “In God is our Trust” — is not just a saying, but a principle to live by.
“Blessed is the nation whose God is The LORD.” Psalm 33:12a TLB.
May the blessings of God continue to shower down upon His Republic.
Have a safe celebration as you remember the Founder’s faith in King Jesus and His faithfulness to help them.
Let the motto of the national anthem become your family’s motto: In God is our Trust!
God bless you in Jesus’ Name!
