A Cherith Season
Last night I took an overnight shift.
I had just paid my rent and utilities… and it overdrafted my account and I had nothing left.
Still, I went.
- I kept moving.
- I kept trusting.
- I kept showing up.
By the time I reached the train station, I didn’t even know how I was going to get home…
I tried to pay the fare… declined.. Insufficient funds.
So I tried again and looked for a shorter route, something cheaper.
That one went through.
But when the ticket slot opened to my surprise I saw coins sitting there! Left behind by someone!
And in that moment I said: “God, I thank you!”
Now someone could say: “It’s just coincidence…” or “Someone forgot their change…”
But when you are the one standing there, with no money and a real need you recognize something deeper.

This reminded me of Elijah at the Brook called Cherith. (1 Kings 17:2-7)
God didn’t give Elijah a storehouse.
He didn’t give him a financial breakthrough.
He sent ravens!
Daily provision… unpredictable supply… just enough to sustain him.
And that’s when it hit me: Some of us are in a Cherith-type Season.
A season when:
- You’re responsible, but stretched
- You’re moving, but unsure
- You’re doing your part… but provision feels tight
- And God is not failing you…HE IS TRAINING YOU.
Because in Cherith provision doesn’t always look like “overflow”.
Sometimes it looks like it was for me, coins left in a machine, just enough fare, just enough strength to get through the day!
And if you’re not careful… you will miss God because you’re expecting something bigger.
Listen and hear me well!
If it meets your need at the exact moment you needed it… it is not random.
The ravens didn’t look like provision and those coins didn’t look like much either.
But they carried the same message: “You are not forgotten!”
And here’s what many don’t understand: Cherith is not permanent!
The brook will dry up. Not because God failed… but because He’s preparing to move you into another level of provision.
So if you are in a tight place right now, If things feel uncertain, If you’re taking it one step at a time…
Don’t despise this season.
Because God is teaching you something systems can’t teach and that is — How to trust Him when there is no safety net — and no visible guarantee.
Prayer
Father, for every person in a Cherith season…
I ask that You strengthen them.
Let them not overlook Your hand in small provision.
Quiet the fear of lack.
Open their eyes to see that You are still moving even in the little things, ever working behind the scenes.
And remind them… that YOU are their SOURCE in Yeshua’s name we give You Praise!
Shalom

Amen! God will ALWAYS make away!
It reminds me of Reese Howell’s book about intercession. God provided him a train ticket when he was in line and had no money. God is good.
What a beautiful word! Thank you
God IS faithful
Your testimony is timely… “Cherith is not permanent”. Amen!

That was just needed for me today – at this very minute !!
What a marvellous Saviour we have.
Thanks for sharing, and no, it’s not a coincidence. I had lost everything a few years ago and living by faith since 2007. Recently, I said Lord, I need a white skirt for an occasion coming up soon. One Sunday a Sister that I sit next to asked if I need anything special. This could only be God.
Blessings to you dear Syreeta.
Syreeta, I believe we are supposed to connect for a Kingdom purpose. Please send me an email if you receive a confirmation from The Lord.
This post made me smile. May God shine His face upon you supplying all your needs with His riches in glory!
