A Kingdom is the King’s domain, where he exercises authority and his word becomes a decree or law. His subjects enjoy the benefits of his rulership and are assured protection within its boundaries. As Christians we live in two worlds (John 17:13-16); we are in the world – the natural kingdom, but not of this world, we belong to another Kingdom – the supernatural kingdom. As such we should experience the benefits of the Kingdom we belong to and bring its beauty and influence within this natural Kingdom. The great revelation here is about your spiritual citizenship; “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ” Philippians 3:20.
When Jesus was born, He brought a government, a different kind of rulership in the world. “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder” Isaiah 9:6. That is why the devil wanted to short-circuit His mission by offering Him all the Kingdoms of this world illegally; “Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, ‘All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me'” Matthew 4:8-9. Satan needed worship from the King of kings, in exchange for the kingdoms of the world, what a raw deal!! Jesus came to establish a superior Kingdom and His mission was to dethrone the devil and not to be enthroned by the devil. The King you worship, the one you pledge allegiance to, is the king whose dominion and influence you place yourself under (Romans 6:16). When Jesus began His ministry, He preached the message of the Kingdom – the gospel (good news) and He performed the works of the supernatural Kingdom – miracles. Hallelujah, this is where you belong. “Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people” Matthew 9:35. This is the effect of the supernatural Kingdom; when good news is heard, miracles are inevitable. You should expect the miracles of God in your life. Yes, you belong to another world; choose to operate by the principles of the supernatural world and make this natural world a better place to live in.
Jesus talked about this supernatural kingdom using two different expressions interchangeably; “And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give” Matthew 10:7-8 and “heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The Kingdom of God has come near to you” Luke 10:9. He used the kingdom of heaven and the Kingdom of God while talking about the same kingdom. They generally refer to the same thing but specifically different. The kingdom of heaven is the sphere, the realm and atmosphere of heaven. Just like He said that we pray; “thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). So, through performing of miracles, we are releasing the atmosphere and beauty of heaven. We can make our homes a haven of peace, by releasing the atmosphere of heaven in the family. An atmosphere of peace, love, trust and affection; where no strife, jealousy and divorce thrives. On the other hand the Kingdom of God refers to the rulership and government of God made manifest. When the rulership of God is manifest, the devil’s hold is broken; sickness, disease and all influences of death from the devil are overthrown releasing a stream of unending success, unspeakable joy and overwhelming peace. Through the supernatural manifestation of miracles and heavenly blessings, the rulership of God and His influence in this world is revealed. Stay in this realm; advance the Kingdom of God (His rulership) and your ‘world’ will receive the kingdom of heaven (His atmosphere – heavenly atmosphere.
While talking about Jesus, prophet Isaiah said; “Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever” Isaiah 9:7. We are in this world to establish and increase this government which comes with peace. That is the reason why after resurrection, Jesus talked about the authority of the Kingdom which man had lost; how He had received it back and even greater than what Adam lost, and then He sent us out with this authority (Matthew 28:19) to advance this kingdom. This will ultimately culminate into; “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” Revelation 11:15. As a child of God, as an ambassador of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20) and as a citizen of heaven (Philippians 3:20), you are on earth to advance this kingdom. You are here to experience the supernatural results in your life and also to influence your sphere of contact supernaturally. This is to be done through the proper exercise of your God-given authority. You are a king in this world; use your words to influence this natural world to experience the atmosphere of heaven. No matter the resistance, you need to forcefully advance; “From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it” Matthew 11:12 NIV.
Speak the word of, command the evil powers out of your way and declare a manifestation of the miraculous in your life. No need to fear, the devil has no hold on you, you are not under his domain, so he can’t exercise dominion over you. When the devil torments God’s children, it is mainly because of ignorance or their passivity . This is where you belong in Christ; “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins” Colossians 1:13-14. This is a statement of fact and not a promise; it is in the past, an accomplished truth for God’s children. When you exercise dominion over the devil and evil deliberately, you will change your atmosphere as you usher in the heavenly kingdom. Live above the devil and his influences; enjoy the heavenly realm while on earth as you become conscious of your citizenship and take advantage of your rights and privileges.
