“Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise,” Hebrews 10:35-36.
When the LORD uses the word “recompense” sometimes we have not fully understood what came with it’s meaning, so I am on the 4th watch meditating upon this Word, as the LORD has instructed.
I could actually breakdown the Greek meaning of the initial understand of the word which means PAYMENT of wages.
Misthapodosia (from Strong’s G3408 μισθός, misthós, “reward” and G591 ἀποδίδωμι, apodídōmi, “return, give back”) – properly, compensation corresponding to a particular decision (action).
This recompense “swings both ways” – bringing a (just) reward from God for living in faith (Hebrews 10:35, 11:26), or divine punishment (Hebrews 2:2). So when we look at the various roots and derivatives that come up.
We must come into the reality that when God recompenses, it is not like the world rendering payment upon a thing.
Payment from the world’s perspective is given with the understanding that the general deductions taxes, and taxable amounts will apply and will affect the given amount.
But when God says he will releasing His Recompense as a reward or payment concerning his promise. He is giving us based upon the amount owed, the time spent with interest, the grief and toil that accompanied the wait.
The ridicule (embarrassment) that was endured when others whispered concerning your circumstance, the time during the lack thereof you endured, waited and even shared what you have with someone else just to make it through that particular season, and don’t forget the time that you were just getting ready to get up and walk away and give up because of the pain of waiting.
Add all that up and you have just barely touched upon what it meant when The LORD said He would take care of it. He would pay, cover it, recompense.
This is what the LORD meant when He said WAIT on it, it’s coming. It is the promise of something greater than that which was lost and was about to be received.
The promise comes and carries with it the reality of the LORD’s will being worked out in our lives as we wait. It endures even understands the process of our death while waiting on what He is about to do as He reveals it to us.
We begin to know who we really are, what we have become and how we will be now that it is about to arrive.
The promise brings with it payment that provides interest on what we think we lost. It gives back toil, sorrow and redeems with it TIME.
He adds His grace upon all we need measure up to at that point . Even when we might have canceled the purpose for payment the LORD according to His promise now what we went through.
So that around the time the enemy says we have messed up to the point that there is no promise. . . the LORD rich in mercy gracious in His love for us gives us. . . . RECOMPENSE.
LORD we thank you for your mercy . . . which if it had not been for that we would have forfeited our reward. But you Oh LORD has added life and fullness to it.
