Calling For The Elders Of The Church
Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
We have studied and followed certain things in the holy text; yet, we have given light speed to many others. In other words, we will have to see that we have not done some things properly.
Remember the long prayer lines, where basically one person was using the oil, and praying over those who were sick. We yet see this on grand fashion today and many follow after it; but where are the rest of the elders?
It’s time for many of us to face up to what is our responsibility now. With those about my age or older, most of our parents have gone on to their reward. Now, “we” are the elders. Let’s not get off on the tangent about how old we feel; let’s remain on the subject.
You see, is it not true, that all of this group today, should be mature in the things of the LORD. Is it not expected, that we should have grown in the Spirit and know more about God and His ways, than many who are much younger. The elders, is not one person. There are many.
I feel led, that every one of us, should take time now, to read the 5th chapter of James. Note closely, the first thing that he begins to talk about; this apostle, has much to say here.
He says clearly, that these have stored up their treasure, in the last days. All we need do is to look around; is that not truly evident in our time now.
It is in this text, that he also mentions, the early and latter rain. To the scoffers, we are not talking about something written in the Old Testament. It is written by one of the Apostles; speaking to us, in our time today.
Take, my brethren, the prophets; who have spoken in the name of the LORD, for an example of suffering and affliction, and of patience. Let’s make a final declaration; on what is backed up by scripture.
The prophets were set in the church after the apostles. They were indeed operating in the early church as we have read. It was also declared that there would be many false prophets in this last time. They were already there in the earlier time. In this hour, It’s apparent that there is an over-abundance of those who declare that they are such; it was prophesied. Discern them and let’s move forward.
The genuine authority of the body of Christ has been undermined by false power. In spite of all the apostles wrote to the contrary, the true order in Christ’s church has been circumvented.
Due to the lateness of the hour, we are going to have to address certain issues and speak clearly about them. I don’t even want to say it; but this idea of a one-fold ministry where one person has dominion and full control, is one of the worse kinds of heresy. In short, it is one of the most harmful and evil produced false doctrines of our time. Are we to say that there is only one elder in every church. That is so poor.
Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the LORD. Did Jesus not say clearly, that these “signs” shall follow them that believe?
He meant “all” believers. All those who believe were to lay hands on the sick and see them recover. Have we become the most powerless saints ever; are we so weak that we cannot be trusted to speak what the Spirit leads each one of us to say.
What if the leadership fails or gets off base? What will the Saints do then?
To Elders of today; all elders, both men and women. If you are truly following the lead of the Holy Ghost now, you already know things.
You know just how much you are needed in these final days. It is not a myth, that we have been prepared for these times. There was so much that was invested in us; from the time we were children, until now.
We’re experienced; we know what to do; witnesses of the true demonstration of the power of the Holy Ghost. All that is not on Christ’s foundation is about to collapse. There is too much at stake. Christ pleads with His elders; “Hear My voice; arise, take your place.”
